SNES Mini Classic Edition

Getting one will be the trick. Something I've been surprised to learn on these forums through a few informal user polls is that interest in SNES gaming seems to be a good bit higher than that of the original NES. Even if they ramp up production, I doubt they'll be able to reliably keep these things on store shelves. However, it is one more thing to keep the name "Nintendo" on everyone's mind during the busiest shopping season.
-
100% agree. Add to that the fact that everyone realizes this time around that they may not produce it for long and you'll have scalpers buying them as fast as they get put on shelves.
-
I love the idea, but I'm still bummed by them not making enough of the NES classic. I'm thankful for my converted Super Famicom with RetroPie, otherwise I'd be even more upset with Nintendo and the scalpers.
-
Nintendo is awful kind to continue making me new versions of cases for my raspberry pi
-
Did anyone actually get an NES Mini and turned it into a Pi case?
-
My pi in a real sfc is enough to satisfy my nostalgia.
-
I'm gonna put a pi inside an SNES (US)

@herb_fargus i really really wanted an nes classic. I even camped out a few times with no luck. I prefer the nes over the snes. It really sucks i wont ever be able to get one now. :(

@edmaul69
You never know, you might find it some time down the line for a reasonable price.I would personally rather have the SNES mini. I still have my original NES but I never owned a SNES because I had a TurboGrafx-16 instead and my best friend had the SNES and our other friend had a Genesis and we'd sometimes borrow/trade systems. I always wanted a SNES but never got one.

Seems like Nintendo already made an SNES Mini.
-
@itsnitro not really a mini...
-
In size, it is much more compact than the original SNES, but I think it might be bigger than the NES Classic Edition, but in a way, it really is.

-
Oh look, they are putting out a SNES 3DS XL...only in Europe.

I'm already here! I had been waffling on the Retropie for some time now, but the SNES Mini pushed it to the front of my mental queue and I just went ahead and built one a few weeks ago.
I'm a long-time collector, so I own genuine copies of my favorite titles already, but I have my consoles hooked up in one room and I wanted a good-looking and simple upscaled alternative for the living room. Despite owning every included game but Star Fox 2, I was honestly considering buying the SNES Mini but I am far too cheap and impatient to pay a scalper or drive all over town to secure one. That and I love a good project, so Retropie it is. Couldn't be happier.
-
@lilbud I sure didn't in my case. Waste of a good quality product to do that to it. Just gonna hold onto mine and maybe sell it one day in the distant future.
I sure feel sorry for your Americans and this pre-order nonsense you go through.
The preorders for the SNES mini went live a couple months ago here in NZ. And you can still pre order them now with no issue.
-
Just awaiting for an official dump of starfox 2. I haven't played the proto because it's been tampered with by moders. I say it be a week before its dumped. I been slowly selling my retro games to people with too much cash and buying flash carts instead. I am awaiting for the retro bubble to pop I for one won't be left with tonnage of plastic and paper that owes me thousands so I won't be buying this.

@mrjordaaany I'm really debating whether or not to get an SNES Mini. On the one hand, i'd have not only an offical SNES emulation setup, but new offical SNES controllers. On the other hand, I don't feel like stumbling through the hordes of people and bots to attempt to get one for cheap.

You're really lucky. I'd love to get one but it's the same situation in the UK, pre-orders are virtually impossible to get because as soon as they go live they sell out in a few minutes. I'm sure scalpers are the main problem (and the fact Nintendo can't get their act together and produce enough stock of anything it seems).
