      Hi,

I've been playing with launch screens to be able to tell people what the buttons do on my joystick and am having mixed results.

Using the example I can set the launch screen for all, but not for individual roms.

So placing a launching.png file in '/opt/retropie/configs/arcade' does show the screen when I launch a game, but it fails to load the following if I place a names file.

I'm trying for Choplifter here, so I created a chplft-launching.png file and placed that in <home>/RetroPie/roms/arcade/images but this did not override the default one.
I've my emulator set to mame4all, so changed the file location to be <home>/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4all/images.

I also deleted the default image to see if the image for the game would pop up, but I just got the standard menu instead.

I am taking this from the example on the Wiki:

**Example: if you have a cool NES related image and want to show it right before launching a NES game, you have to name the image file as /opt/retropie/configs/nes/launching.jpg.

A more general launching image (not related to a specific system) can be named as /opt/retropie/configs/all/launching.jpg.

Since 4.1.5 runcommand is able to show specific game launching art. The image must be placed at $HOME/RetroPie/roms/SYSTEM_NAME/images/ and named as RomName-launching.png (or .jpg), where RomName must be the exact name of the ROM minus the trailing extension.**

      What am I doing wrong?

      Paul

I'm not sure if yours is different but my Choplifter ROM is named "choplift.zip" (and not "chplft.zip") so the launching image should be /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4all/images/choplift-launching.png or /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/images/choplift-launching.png

          Hi,

Mine are named chplft.zip, chplftb.zip and chllftba.zip (I'm guessing on the last) and have tried all..
I had to create the images directory under the Rom directory, did you have to do the same?

I put all of my MAME launching images in this folder:
            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/images/

              Hi,

I've got this working now. I took the drastic action of uninstalling everything and starting again. I think I had some permission issues and the restart sorted it out for me.

Only tried with a couple of games with the same image, but it's working.

              Thanks for the Advice. :)

I love this idea, do you have a few example of the images you are planning you use or do you know of any readily available? I haven't found anything other than this article with my google-fu. Thanks.
