For some reason the start button on my xbox 360 controller stopped being recognized (after apt-get upgrade?)

I wanted to go through the controller config again and see if that helps but I can't seem to launch it without a start button ... catch 22 I guess.

@dreamgamer Try to reset all the input configs, it can help:
        retropie_setup >> configuration / tools >> emulationstation >> clear/reset ES config

SSH is disabled and I can't navigate through the menus at all.

@nex86 Enable SSH, then log in to the system and run the RetroPie-Setup script to reset your controllers as @meleu indicated:

            sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

@mitu how am I'm supposed to enable SSH when I can't go into the menu to enable it?

.. nvm I think it can enabled through the config.txt. not 100% sure though.

Look at the page I mentioned, the 2nd method is simpler - pop-up your SD card and insert it into your PC, then create an empty file called ssh (no extension) on the /boot partition, the same folder as the config.txt file.
Put the SD card back and boot the PI, you should have SSH enabled.
