Wii Classic / Pro Controller - Analog not working
-
Hi there. I've got a Raspberry PI 3 Model B, with RetroPie 4.2 installed on it. I followed the Method 1 from this official tutorial [https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Wiimote-Controller]. My Wii (not Wii U) Classic Pro Controller connects and works with most of the buttons, except both of the analog sticks (left and right) and the select button (minus). The other buttons works fine, I can play games from Nes, SNes, MegaDrive, but games from N64 I can not due the problem with analog sticks. They do not recognize when I try to configure it in the EmulationStation.
I tried the mywminput file with eveything and with just the classic option. Did not work. Would someone help me out, please? I did not find the answer in any place. Most people say to buy a USB adapter, but I think it's possible to make all buttons work!

Is there any shaman who might help me out?
I'm trying to make this work for my little sis' birthday. Thanks. -
@WildDarkness i never got it to work right hooking the wiimotes to bluetooth. I could get the left analog to work but i lose the direction pad in the process. I personally would just buy a mayflash dolphin bar and sync your controllers to that and save the headache. Plus you can use the wiimotes as a light gun in advmame.

@edmaul69 thanks for the reply. Those mayflash dolphin bar are the same as the original Wii bar? If so, I have these and there'll be no problem at all to try to use it.
But, is there any place with a tutorial to do what you told me to, to sync my wii classic controller to the bar instead of the raspberry? -
@WildDarkness no they are not the same thing. The dolphin bar connects to the pi and you sync the controllers to the dolphin bar. Removes all the bluetooth problems. The dolphin bar is made for pc's and has a sync button on it.

@edmaul69 Got it. I looked at amazon and saw what you meant.
And this dolphin bar is plug and play even for the raspberry pi, retroarch and emulation station? I mean, for configuring the controllers inside emustation, is just plug into an USB door and use it or do I have to configure something else? -
@WildDarkness yes. Plug and play.
-
@edmaul69 Thanks. I got a few posts telling to buy an USB adapter, but it was another, one that has 2 entrys for the classic controller or nunchuck, not a dolphin bar.
But would you mind telling me what you did to recognize the left analog as dpad? Maybe we can find the answer together in that.
-
@WildDarkness in the config you swap what the dpad and the analog are assigned. It actually makes it work as the analog and not just a glorified dpad. Playing n64 if the dapads config is set to the dpad it works as the n64 dpad. If you swap the config settings the analog will work as a fully functioning analog in n64. In n64 the analog and dpad have completely different functions so you can see that it is working as two different devices. It doesnt make any sense but it does that. I tried everything to try to get more controls to no avail. The mayflash classic controller wired usb works for classic controllers and nunchucks. But the mayflash dolphin bar will let you use the wiimotes too and everything wirelessly.

Did you find a fix for this? I setup my Wii Classic controller last night and I have the same issue.
-
As far as a fix for all of this. At one point when I needed an extra controller to use along with a couple xbox360 controllers I configured a Wii Classic Controller with MoltenGamePad (Method 2 in the link mentioned in the OP.) with no problems.

@monkeypie it worked with mayflash dolphin bar
I'm now having issues with the shortcuts like start + select inside the games for going back to the menu, but the analog works great -
@Charononus nice to know that. I tried that and didn't work. Maybe I've done something wrong.
But mayflash dolphin bar worked. Really great. -
@edmaul69 thx a lot. I broght it, ir worked great the analogs and everything inside the game, except for the shortcuts of emu station / retroarch
Now I'm having trouble to make it work shortcut like start + select
Any idea?
Mayflash dolphin bar is in mode 3, I tried other modes but everything was the same or worse. -
@WildDarkness with the new emulationstation, when you configure the controller, at the end it wants you to press hotkey. You need to choose select as the hotkey. I think it was a bad idea to add this option as i am sure several people who say the select + start doesnt work, is because of this option and not realizing you need to press the select button so your controls match all of the official documentation.

Was that just using BT? I don't want to spend money on adapters like the Mayflash dolphin bar. I'm thinking about buying an 8bitdo controller if I can get this to work.
-
@monkeypie the wii controllers arent 100% standard bluetooth so you cant just hook it up and immedietly sync it to bluetooth like you would with an 8bitdo. The dolphin bar is only for wii controllers.

@edmaul69 said in Wii Classic / Pro Controller - Analog not working:

What do you mean? I followed the guide and was able to automatically sync during startup, RP3 BT. The only thing that doesn't work are the analog sticks.

@monkeypie i havent found an easy way to get it to work 100% without a lot of work or using something like the dolphin bar.
