[New theme] Super Display
-
Here is a theme I created call Super Display, i made it originally for Attract Mode and ported it to ES.
This theme uses zIndex layering for the video snaps. There is a known issue within Emulation Station when you have the OMX Player enabled so make sure to turn it off.!

@mrharias well, looks like you have everything covered:)
-
@mrharias to add it is easy. I wrote instructions on my PlayStation theme thread.
-
never mind it looks like it was added 12 hours ago I was just a bit consumed because I don't think I did the process right but I guess he was nice to add it anyways. I just don't see in the es themes menu lol
-
@jdrassa and @Zigurana : I think you may want to take a look at this theme. It's probably the first fully fledged vertical carousel theme I installed, and I think it shows some things we may need to fine tune on ES to fully support it.
I've tested it on 2.4.1 (I don't think we have had any significant changes as far as theming goes since), and it seems some view backgrounds are rendered on top of others, or the wrong view backgrounds being shown in particular gamelists vs system views. It's especially noticeable when scrolling between gamelists with left and right.
Thought you'd like the heads up - I'm happy to send over a video if you can't spot anything upfront.
Thanks, and have a great week!

@jdrassa oh, now I remember us discussing it.
It might certainly be related.
Let me know if there's anything I can do here.
Thanks!

I installed this theme today and I absolutely love it. However, I can't use it, because it is not compatible with some of my systems. The most important one for me that is missing is the TI-99. I hope you are able to add that emulator soon so that I can use your theme full time.

nice with 480p
only with 240p snaps is to big
the cabinet is in mirror (dont no the english words) -
I wish there was a way to contact the creator for this theme.
-
@kevinshope You mean the original poster? I'm sure they get a notification when someone replies here.
-
Sorry guys just got back from vacations and didn't get any notification from here. you can find me on theme hub, hyperpie, or retromaniaus Facebook group. if you search for the theme on youtube you you will find my channel also.
-
@kevinshope look for me on youtube mrharias, ill see if I add the system you requested
-
@pjft yes it happens here and there not all the time though, changing vram to 110 fix the some of the issues mentioned above. hopefully you guys can figure it out its a bit annoying lol
-
@mrharias Thanks.
Yes, @jdrassa is on it and has quite elegantly addressed it, it seems. It's still being developed.
Still, one thing that you could do for your own theme's benefit is to downscale all 1080p background images to 720p. The Pi is not an extremely powerful device, and with such large textures and the number of systems I have, plus videos and artwork, I always end up running into memory issues with this theme.
Just a thought for you to consider. From what I hear from other theme makers, 720p resources is indeed the sweet spot for the Pi.
The alternative would be for people to explicitly change their memory split in /boot/config.txt , but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it just for the ability to use the theme, as you're reducing the available memory for emulators and such.
Just a thought.

@pjft Thanks, I haven't been able to update from source it keep saying emulation station wasn't found after a long run. My img are already compressed but like you said at 1080 I tried a program and the img were triple the size and bad quality, I just need to figure out how reduce it to 720 without losing quality, increasing size.

I absolutely love the theme. Best look and feel for my tastes. Hoping that you can add appropriate menu selection for the other remaining supported emulator systems (as noted on the retropie wiki and the others in the experimental list in RetroPie-Setup. Awesome job so far!
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
