My Remastered NES Covers

@darknior Hey bud,
I was wondering if you or Gilles could do me a huge solid?
Years back, Gilles made "Generic Boxarts" for all of the systems. These were used for any games we couldn't find artwork for at the time. All these years later there is actually a lot more artwork available, so we really don't need any for official releases at all, but we still need them for categories like Pirates, Unlicensed, Homebrew and a few others. Unfortunately, the images that Gilles made were only around 292x400 pixels, which was fine on an SD XBox, but won't hold up well against all of these larger and improved images we're going to be using for our new sets.
I was wondering if you guys could redo some of these for the systems as I work on them. It's taken me about 6 months of near full-time work just doing the NES, so I don't think I'm going to be pressuring you too much about it :)
Here's the ones we're using for the NES now:
Here's the ones for the FDS. Just a few adult games and the Famimaga collection:
They don't have to be the same images, but just maintain the same feel. I really like the images that Gilles used for these, but they might not be easy to find, or in high enough quality to use for larger images. Actually, if you guys would do this for me, just let me know and I'll see if I can find the images so you don't have to waste time looking for them.
Also, I know you like making the images only 700 pixels, but I was hoping you'd make them larger for me? I really am trying to build this new collection with the future of tech in mind and don't want to have to be asking somebody to upgrade these again in 10 years. :)
If you guys do this for me, you're upgrading the presentation for around 200-250 games by just making 7 Boxes.
Thanks man.

Armadillo.
Thanks for this game i don't know, and thanks RX for the Cover, it looks excellent.
I will do it too :)@Used2BeRX i understand and i will try to found time to do them, but i 'm already overbooked lol
NES covers, Dapphne set + covers, ScummVM engine test and game vonfiguration, PSP source code fix ... i have only two hands lol
I write it in my head for later.@chelochelini2014 said in My Remastered NES Covers:
Maybe he can help you, because his cover is excellent :)
I like the PIRATE SERIES logo on bottom :p -
Wow dude. That's awesome. Did you make that? I'd be honored to feature your work in the set if you did.
I wanted to get as close as possible to the originals I posted, but I really love what you did there. I agree with @darknior that the "Pirate Series" logo is great.
I'm going replace the old one from my collection tonight and add that for any games that need it. Right now, 46 out of the 60 Pirate games in the collection are without actual covers, so you just upgraded the Box Art for 46 games. :)
Thanks again!
EDIT:
I just added them and realized that I also had 7 Pirate carts that have been translated as well, so unless I add more games that single box just upgraded 53 boxes in the set. :)
-
Yes, I take part of the lunch hour to check the forum and make that cover to colaborate, i used some internet resources, here is another , images is from world heroes screenshot
-
Edited: new cover

@chelochelini2014 Awesome man! These are excellent!
One thing though... Could you change the "Pirate Series" for the Prototype image? I wonder what a "Prototype Series" icon should look like?
It's fine for the Pirate Fighting games since they're Pirates that I just split off into a different category because there are so many VS Fighters that came out of China.
Maybe for the Unlicensed box the "Unlicensed Series" icon could be a sillohette of a drivers license with the "no smoking"/"ghostbusters" sign around it? :)
I'll let you know how many games these upgrade when I integrate them. I might not be able to do that until tomorrow, but know that this work is greatly appreciated!
-
@chelochelini2014 great work :)
If you use Photoshop, how to you do to enlarge your little NES image, without smooth and with all the pixel perfect and square ?
I search for this option. -
@chelochelini2014 I integrated the Pirate Fighting boxes for another 18 games upgraded. A total of 71 games with two boxes so far. I'm likely adding another 18 Pirates and 4 more Pirate Fighters as long as they work after testing so that total will be up to 89 games if I can't find any legit box artwork for them!
Thanks again man. I hope you don't mind doing a few more. These look so great.

@darknior you have to change at image menu - the mode- to indexed color mode, but when you save as jpg you lose the index quality because is a mode to work with png pics. anyway is good trick to create or convert pics as pixelated image

@chelochelini2014 Hey bud. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be away from the computer quite a bit in the next week or two, so if you get around to making any more of those boxes don't think that I'm ignoring you. Totally looking forward to seeing anything else you make!
Take it easy and thanks again.
EDIT: OH! I just noticed that you re-did the prototype with the "Prototype Series". I'm going to add those to the collection before I go to bed. I'd give you another rep point, but I can't do it twice for the same post. :)

is the time, you know my friend, i take some of my free time to check the forum and do this things
-
@chelochelini2014 Awesome work again bud. Once I put this in the set I'll give you a count of how many times these you've done so far are used. Needed quite a few for the Unlicensed games, so the count for all 4 so far should be well over 100. :)
Thanks again!
EDIT: Just did a count of all of the games upgraded with your new boxes and my total so far is 106 :)

@chelochelini2014 Awesome work man. Amazing as always. Thank you so much. :)
I just went through everything and all generic NES covers are now accounted for. If you had a chance, I hope you might find the time to create the FDS ones. These are the ones we have now:
Adult Games:
Famimaga Series Games:
BTW... I forgot to add this one, but I just went ahead and upgraded it myself since it was a simple thing I could handle :)
VS Arcade Games:
-
just give me a few days because i need to do another template on illustrator to do the new covers.
-
@chelochelini2014 No problem man. Whenever you have the time. :)
I'm going to be away for a while again, so I'll message you back if you get to them before I'm here. I'm still going to be adding some more games to the collection and most of them are going to use those covers you made. I'm figuring that about 150 of them will have your boxes when I'm done.
Hey bud. I think sometime next week I'd like to start integrating your awesome boxart into the set as well. I've been putting that off since it's going to be a big project and I've had so many other things I've been working on, plus it seemed like you were still in the middle of making a lot of the images.
I had two questions for you.
-
Could you give me a package of the NES/Famicom boxes you did in a zipfile so I don't have to individually scroll down and save them all here?
-
Are you doing any requests? On my spreadsheet I have all of the large good quality images in black. The ones that are medium sized show the dimensions in 'ORANGE/BOLD` and the ones that are either really small and/or have some watermarks or pricetags or other defects are in RED/BOLD.
There's only a few that are red... probably less than 10 of the 2,000 games. I was hoping that maybe you might be able to make some awesome images for those. It will pretty much be perfect for boxarts at that point, since the ORANGE/BOLD images are good and are really just noted as being smaller than I'd like them to be for the future of emulaton and larger TV screens.
Thanks again guys. Have a good weekend if I don't see you by then.

I'm still a LONG way away from even being close to a full NES release. Tons of things to do first, including making about 500 videos for new translations, hacks, pirates and others that weren't in teh Rx1.0 set (and possibly just re-doing all of them in HD with a uniform volume and a standard length in an "attract mode" arcade style format.
Hope I don't come off as rushing anybody on any of this. I just get excited about ideas all over the place and throw things out there while I'm thinking about them. There's no way this work will be done before the year is over on my end. I'm hoping for a full NES release some time by next summer. :)
