Will GZDoom Ever Come To Retropie????
-
@edmaul69 i hope this link works So u can show you where i lag exactly
Ok between min 7 and min 8 or so do you see that area and all those monsters there outside?
Thats the part exactly where its pretty damn laggy.. -
@retrofreak89 yeah the two cannon guys starting at 7 minutes wasnt an issue. What difficulty are you on? Default was in the middle somewhere. I chose the difficulty it was selected on when you start a new game.
-
Well damn...
Because that part with all the monsters lags bad
And i also have it default when i play Valiant i dont change any diffeculty..Now in rly wondering why its running such crap can you check what fps u get at that spot?? Ill check the same..

@edmaul69
this version: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/valiant
I'm playing it on Zdoom, the Prboom test was just a tangent.
At 640x480 I get dips into the teens at that rough part in the video (while spamming rockets) It's just a bad spot with lots of enemies spawning in and a long/complex render distance behind them. At 320x240 it dips into mid 20's at the problem spot. (stock clock and memsplit w/ fan)@Brigane
I'm doing it the way the wiki suggests:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Doom#how-to-launch-doom-iwads-and-mods-pwads-from-emulationstation-using-zdoom -
@jcook84 yeah if that date is correct i am definitely using that one. I am playing at 1024x768. I got a few dips in the teens today but i didnt experience any noticeable lag as they didnt last long enough to see slowdown.
-
@edmaul69 hmm ill check in a min to see my fps there also stock and 640x reso
Also whats the difference between prboom and zdoom does prboom play mods and wads as well??
-
@jcook84 So for you Valiant runs pretty crappy too some parts of the levels??
-
@retrofreak89 no. Pr-boom plays doom games only.
-
@jcook84 Well.. The wiki suggest many different things depending on which iwads are used. Would you mind pasting the script here.
I got the other iwads working except valiant.wad
Thanks -
@brigane are you using gzdoom or zdoom?
-
@edmaul69
zdoom -
@brigane i will post the cofig when i get home
-
@brigane if you put doom2.wad and Valiant.wad (notice valiant has a capitol V as caps and lowercase have to match) in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/ , then this would be the emulators.cfg for valiant
default = "zdoom" zdoom = "/opt/retropie/ports/zdoom/zdoom -iwad /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/doom2.wad -file /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/Valiant.wad"
-
@edmaul69 i wish i could figure out why my doom runs worse than yall lol
-
@edmaul69
Thanks, It runs quite well on my end, at least the first couple of minutes I've been trying it. I'm using an overclocked Raspberry Pi 2.Edit: Now I also got trailblazer running. It's running pretty smooth imo
-
Thought I'd would let you know I manage to setup Brutal Wolfenstein 3D as well by using the same method.
-
@brigane omg omg how the hell did u get trailblazer running i cant get it to run it crash in load... Plz help?
Also whats Ur fps on Valiant? Do vid_showfps true
-
@retrofreak89
I'm not quite sure how I show fps in-game. But please fill me in, if you do.This is how I got trailblazer working.
this is my config in /opt/retropie/configs/ports/trailblazer/emulators.cfg
zdoom = "/opt/retropie/ports/zdoom/zdoom +set fullscreen 1 -iwad /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/doom2.wad -file /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/trailblazer/trailblazer.pk3"` default="zdoom"
This is where I placed my wad file /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/trailblazer/trailblazer.pk3
My trailblazer.sh script to launch the game looks like this
#!/bin/bash "/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh" 0 _PORT_ "trailblazer" ""
-
@brigane he has valiant working. He was asking about trailblazer. I havent tried installing it yet so i cant help him there.
-
@edmaul69
