ESC and F1 keys
-
I recently upgraded my retrobuilt games arcade to a Raspberry Pi 3 and control block.
I was wondering if there was a way of mapping 2 of the switches SW5 and SW6 to represent ESC and the F1 key.
-
I also have the ControlBlock. I have yet to actually do anything with it though, but I am also curious if there is a way to change the key-mapping.. or to somehow be able to change between gamepad mode or keyboard mode for different emulators.
-
Currently, the only gamepadtype in
/etc/controlblockconfig.cfg
that simulates a keyboard is the gamepad typemame
.
However, as for now the ControlBlock driver does not provide the possibility to configure the key mapping and is fixed to the mapping as described at petrockblock.com. This means that you need to change the configuration of the emulator to handle these fixed key mappings.
I could plan to implement that functionality, though. -
@petrockblog
Thank you that would be most helpful. -
@petrockblog Another excellent feature request would be the ability to switch between gamepad mode and keyboard mode on a per emulator or per game basis via something like the runcommand menu.
Arcade/gamepad mode works great for libretro cores, and a custom key-mapped mame/keyboard mode would work great for DOSBox and ports!

To track that I have added that also as a feature request at https://github.com/petrockblog/ControlBlockService2/issues.
