Best tv for retropie (nes and snes)??
-
Im into nes and snes gamming mostly. Can anyone recommend a tv that will give the best experience? I mean very low input lag. I have a tv lm using now but even with game mode on there is input lag and nes and snes is not playable. I played a lot of nes and snes in the past so l can feel the lag.

@kevinmac smaller tv's (like 32"/ 24" or less general dont have game modes and dont seem to have a real lag issue in my experience.

A crt but im confused on what cable to buy i heard not all cables work like digital cam corder cables only certain typ works in not sure but i too want to use my crt i just dont know what type of cable
But it does give u the best input lag -
@kevinmac get a 22" or 24" led computer monitor with 5ms or less response time. Better yet, get a 4:3 21" computer monitor, that is my favorite to play on. You can get the 22" and 24" 16:9 monitors for around $100. BenQ makes a few really good ones at that price. The 4:3 will cost you more, but then you get the full screen just like the games were meant to be played. The other thing I noticed is controllers can play a factor in lag. A good controller like a PS4 seems to work really well without much of any noticeable lag, while I have tried a few generic controllers and have found that they introduced the slightest amount of lag, especially on SNES, mostly noticeable with 2 players.

The best possible monitor would be a 240p RGB TV or monitor. But they're pretty expensive and not the easiest to setup. The next best thing would be an old school CRT TV. You can find one for free on Craigslist, some people might even pay you to take it :P

Are you using bluetooth controllers? The one thing that worked best for me was disabling the wifi to the raspberry pi 3 by adding the following line to the /boot/config.txt file:
dtoverlay=pi3-disable-wifi
Good luck in your search!

If you insist on a tv and not a monitor, visit rtings.com. They measure input lag in the tv's they review including game mode input lag. I don't notice input lag with my tv's game mode input lag of 26ms. Sounds a bit high but games play fine.

I use a VIZIO D50u-D1 50-Inch 4K. I picked it up specifically for the low input lag, and it seems to work great.
I made sure to use the fastest HDMI port (one is labelled as "best") and turned on game mode, and turned off all post-processing options.
rtings.com lists it as having 13.5ms, which is excellent for something that's not a computer monitor.
