For those with a Pi3, how is Golden Tee performance?
-
I have a Pi2 and Golden Tee in AdvMame lags quite a bit. Has anyone tried on a Pi3 and if so what is the performance like? I'm referring specifically to the 3D versions of the Golden Tee games (GT97, GT98, GT99, GT2K and GT3D).

Still looking for any performance results. Haven't been able to find any on the net anywhere.

Have you looked in the advance mame list on the wiki, hundreds of games are tested for all of the pi over lock and not

@mikeveli20 golden tee plays much better on the pi3 than on the pi2. I am using advancemame for trackball support and they all lagged and had choppy music on the pi2. When I upgraded to a pi3 I was surprised how well these work now. I have not tried gt3d but the others are all way better.

@mikeveli20 I went through my Golden Tee games again tonight, updated some gamelist.xml stuff and tried some other versions:
gtg2
gt97
gt98
gt99
gt2k
gt3d
gtgtThese are all working fine on the Pi3. I updated the spreadsheet on the wiki, but wanted to followup here. You may need to do some configuring in the .rc file to get your trackball setup properly.

Thanks for testing those. Glad to hear they play much better on the Pi3. Was any overclocking required to get these to play properly?
-
@mikeveli20 This was straight defaults from RetroPie 3.6 build. I don't believe there is any overclock in the images by default.
I will say that if you are moving to a Pi3, definitely get a heatsink. Before I added one, I would experience slowdowns due to heat-related throttling (the Pi automatically lowers CPU performance when it detects overheating).
-
@caver01 I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again.

Golden Tee works great for me as well with AdvanceMame on a Pi3 (like caver01, I use advancemame for trackball support).
It actually ran pretty decent on my old overclocked Pi2 , and you wouldn't notice the lag if it weren't for the sound effects/music getting garbled. After upgrading to the Pi3 (overclocked w/ heatsync and fan), everything runs smooth as butter.

@ajhorst i have tryd updating the .rc files on advancedmame 1.4, .94 and 3. the result i got was gt2k,99 etc now just crashes instead of starting up. i have retro pie 4.2, ultrimarc u-track trackball. no matter what i try golden tee wont recognize my trakball in the gui menu of advancemame!? you all let me no its possible so what am i missing??

@exjordan all you can do in the GUI is set sensitivity. There's no "mapping" analog in the GUI even though it looks like you can.
If it fails to launch after updating the .rc file, you have a mistake in the file. Check logs /dev/shm/runcommand.log or try running at command prompt to see what it says. Is there perhaps a duplicate, conflicting line? That's not allowed.
