          I have retropie running on TinkerOS 2.0.4, n64 runs really poorly though.

            @baileus what about NES, SNES and another emulators? I want to play some SNES and PS1 games. I just bought my tinker board a couple of days ago but I am still awaiting for the power supplier so I can't test it for now :(

                  @baileus @hannibal Try these settings in retroarch.conf:

                  video_fullscreen_x = 1280
                  video_fullscreen_y = 720
                  video_fullscreen = true
                  audio_driver = alsathread

                  That should get older emulators working well on TinkerOS Debian 2.0.4, but I have no idea how @anothervictim got N64 running smoothly. Changing the resolution doesn't help its performance much.

                      @hannibal I had that problem the first time I built, but it worked when I tried again a few days later. Maybe update retropie-setup, and try again? It is also possible that I installed an important dependency while building RetroArch from source. The part where you grab retroarch's dependencies is worth a look.

                      I strongly recommend that you install ccache if you haven't already. It can significantly reduce rebuild times. Also make sure the emulator is using the "gl" driver.

                        Did all of the N64 cores install for you?

                          @baileus Only mupen64plus. There are fewer cores and ports available in this version than my Pi has access to, but I don't know why.

                              @baileus Not at the moment. I tried building one with libretro-super, but it didn't work when I dropped it into the appropriate directory (/opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mupen64plus/). I will need to spend some time reading Retropie-Setup's code to figure out what it is doing differently, and why it only installs libretro cores on the Tinkerboard.

                                  ok just did a update and rebooted my system and i got a "it looks like your systems configuration file has not been set up or is invalid. You'll need to do this by hand unfortunately."
                                  you guys ever seen this or have any idea what to do to fix it?

                                    @hannibal It means your es_systems.cfg file is missing / corrupt / invalid.

                                          Hopefully this helps some people out, but in the asus tinker board forums someone (Desproggster) posted a pre-provisioned somewhat working tinker board OS here:

                                          https://tinkerboarding.co.uk/forum/thread-522-page-4.html

                                          Maybe this will cut out some of the manual work some of you tinker board retropie pioneers are facing.

                                          I'll get a tinker board and try to pitch in some help too.

                                            @BuZz, i know your a busy man, but for your notes, lr-ppsspp, lr-paralell64, and ppsspp will not install. when you get a chance to circle back to the TB can you take a look. i found a work around for the 2 lr-cores by using a set form a different image and manually making folders and editing the emulator.cfg files. It worked well, and RP see's that they are installed. no Dice on ppsspp. No rush, just wanted to let you know.
