      Currently, the built in scraper offers the option of entering a URL for it to search in order to locate a photo, but only when that link is to a directory on the Pi.

      Would it be possible to change the function so that you could enter a web address that points at an image file? This would make the work of getting scraped images for games missed by the automatic process much easier as there would be no need to separately transfer the files to the Pi and mess with naming them all correctly.

        @ward614 No, thats' not possible. The setting you're talking about is the place where the scraper would save the image that it downloaded, but it always point to a file on the disk.

          Perhaps not that exact setting then but another one in the same menu? The ability to scrape images from a web URL would be quite useful for those looking to avoid needing to edit the names for manually added images.
