[THEME] Nostalgic
-
I am running RetroPie 4.3.16 and I tried to install Nostalgic from the RetroPie Setup menu and receive this error. It happens to several of them themes though and not just one.
= Running action 'install_theme' for 'esthemes' : Install themes for Emulation Station = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = git clone --recursive --depth 1 "https://github.com/SuperMagicom/es-theme-nostalgic.git" "/etc/emulationstation/themes/nostalgic" fatal: Could not get current working directory: No such file or directory Error running 'git clone --recursive --depth 1 https://github.com/SuperMagicom/es-theme-nostalgic.git /etc/emulationstation/themes/nostalgic' - returned 128
Also when I "Download Theme Gallery" and try to view it I see this error.
pixelsize=16.67 file=/usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf ioctl VT_GETSTATE: Inappropriate ioctl for device (not a linux console?) using "DejaVu Sans Mono-16",

I am not sure if something was tweaked but all the themes seems to install correctly now. Before some loaded and some didn't. It was basically the same error above for the themes that wouldn't load.
The second error which is unrelated to installing themes is still an issue.

@supermagicom V2.7.5RP
-
- I downloaded version 1.2 of the theme
- I extracted the folder
- I threw the folder with the direct theme in: \ etc \ emulationstation \ themes \
It worked :)

@ande-rocha Glad you got it working. :)

@SuperMagicom I am trying to get this awesome theme running on my windows ES setup but think the paths must be messed up as I get a load of blank screens and errors like this in my es_log :
Warning from theme "C:/Emulationstation//.emulationstation/themes/nostalgic/amiga/theme.xml"
(from included file "C:/Emulationstation//.emulationstation/themes/nostalgic/amiga/../nostalgic.xml")
could not find file "./${system.theme}/logo.png" (which resolved to "C:/Emulationstation//.emulationstation/themes/nostalgic/amiga/../${system.theme}/logo.png")Do I need to edit the paths in the .xml's manually or can I change the variable somewhere to point at the correct theme directory (mine should be C:/Emulationstation/.emulationstation/themes/nostalgic without the extra forward slash)

@red5ive The theme was designed for use on Retropie but I did the development on Windows EmulationStation version 2.7.4RP I don't think older Windows versions contain the changes made to Retropie ES for carousel support, etc. so they are probably not compatible.

Thanks for replying.
I'm using the latest windows build by jdrassa, I thought he had implemented carousel support now but will check.
I just thought most of the problems were down to that double // on the paths -
This theme is great!
Will you be adding one for Ports? -

I really like this theme and noticed Ports was missing too. :)

@SuperMagicom this is amazing, super great work. one question: I have my Megadrive and PC Engine lists set up to show Genesis and Turbografx instead from some thing I did in the past for Carbon and other themes, but it doesn't automatically work for Nostalgic. What should I do to fix? Do I need to create a new Megadrive custom collection from theme via the ES menu and then manually add every genesis game to that collection??

Here the theme for mame-libretro and also the marquees (turns black) did not work.
Somebody else? -

Somebody else?Same here.
I have made a pull request to fix it + optimize the images, so they load faster.

@cosmo0 I merged your changes. Thanks!

Great theme. Would it be possible to make a "Ports" section cause I have a black screen when selecting it?
-
@SuperMagicom Amazing theme. Would it be possible for you to make a Ports area? Please :)

Brilliant theme. This is my new default. Thank you. One noob question. When it loads it seems to default to Genesis. How did I change that to Mega Drive?
-
@GrantX360 Open Emulation Station's Main Menu by pressing the Start button, then go to UI Settings. There, you can choose the default system under Start On System.

Has this been baked into RP yet, or is it still a manual install? @SuperMagicom
-
@ohmycommodore I just checked to see it was there (since I like it and wanted to install it). It's on the theme list (Number 124 on my list). Just make sure you update your install script.
My only complaints are 1) that it's 6:9 only and not 4:3 compatible. The images are stretched on a 4:3. I am still using it, though, because it's great. And 2) it doesn't have an entry for C64 yet. =)
