Carbon-Vertical

Hey, guys! I've built a number of cocktail retrocades for friends & family, and as such, they all used a vertically-rotated display, and I was never happy with how the default (or really, any) theme looked on it, so I did a modded version of the Carbon theme, and thought I'd pop it up here, if any of you have had a similar irking. I'm sure it's been done before, but hey...
Also, I will be posting my first original vertical-only theme as soon as it's finished. Still needs some tweaking.
In the meantime, here's the link to Carbon-Vertical:

@thepatchwerkboy It's always great to share things made for oneself in the first place. Care to post one or more screenshots of the result?

Hey @thepatchwerkboy , thank you for this - I just got it up and running earlier after learning from @mitu that the experimental version of emulationstation can be used vertically.
I'll definitely check out your vertical-only theme once it's ready.

@andrewh - All versions, to my knowledge, can be used vertically. Just set display_rotate=3 (or 1, depending on the physical screen's orientation) in /boot/config.txt and give it a proper reboot.

They can, but the results are not good. As mentioned in the other thread, I got quite severe shadow flickering when I tried that.

@AndrewH I don’t have any issues with it. Works fine on my old 3:4 1200x1600 setup, ie a an old 4:3 monitor rotated 90 degrees. No flicker or anything

@andrewh - Interesting. I've had zero issues with it.

I’m running a rotated 1200x1600 monitor too, with a Pi 3B. Off the top of my head, two games where the shadow flicker was most evident were Donpachi (particularly the opening sequence with the large craft that drops the player’s ship), and Esp Ra De.
Several of the other games of that type also had the same problem.

@andrewh you could be right. I don’t play either of those, so I can’t comment.

@thepatchwerkboy Hello, I'm trying to rotate my screen in the retropie, but I use the RetrOrangePi system, and this system does not have the config.txt file in the boot folder. Can someone help me?

@mktaia You should probably take this to their forum - http://orangepi.club/index.php
I have both a raspberry pi and an orange pi, myself. Orange Pi is still on Jessie, whereas Raspi is now on Stretch. There are going to be differences.
