Add hyperion to retropie install list
-
I'd like to see Hyperion added to the install list. It would make things so much easier if I could install it though the Retropie menu then having to SSH to my pi and do it manually. Not sure how you would add a config editor for the setup of Hyperion but having one less step for getting it running would be awesome

I've been fulfilling a lot of port requests. I have no idea what Hyperion is, however.

@zerojay
It is the plugin that works with lightpack. Which is a hardware device.So basically a scripted install of the hyperion dependencies I think I have a how to guide somewhere around here that would entail that.
Then an auto placement of the hyperion config file with what I would recommend as the Andromeda layout.

I have no idea what any of this is or means, sorry.

That is an example of LIghtPack working. It is the LED strip behind the tv. It's an Amilight clone. Here I have it configured to work with Openelec.Harder to get it to work with default Kodi because it does not have the boblightd plugin that is present in the OpenElec repo
It is working in Tandem with my Phillips Hue lights also with Kodi.
But the lightpack can be configured to work with emulators if the Hyperion binary is installed and configured which is what he is asking for support for.
There is also a basic config called andromeda since the os needs to know where all the lights location wise. It is the most common configuration which I would suggest be set if this was added support for in emulation station. When correctly installed the light effect works while you play emulators.

It shoudn't be too hard to make an install script for Hyperion.
Some days ago I helped one guy to install it in RetroPie and the only thing needed was to follow the instalattion instructions here: https://github.com/hyperion-project/hyperion/wiki/installation
Besides that it was needed to install python-dev debian package and to edit /etc/asound.conf accordingly but that depends on the person setup.It works fine with the current version of Kodi in RetroPie. In the Kodi repo you also have a boblight package. Boblight is independent of Hyperion.

@Rascas
Can you give me the options or setps to fight it in kodi cause I have had a hell of a time with it. -
@Twitch0815 Boblight ? You have to install the debian package (or compile it yourself from source) and enable the service with:
sudo update-rc.d boblight defaults
or
sudo update-rc.d boblight-dispmanx defaults
The dispmanx version works with any program on the RPi.
Then you have to make a configuration file according to https://github.com/timsat/boblight-lightpack/wiki/Configuration, copy the file to /etc/boblight.conf and restart the service or the RPi.
I am not completely sure if it still works since I don't use it for quite a few time but I think so.

@Rascas
Alright thanks I was banging my head against the wall cause in Openelec you just search for it in services under kodi addons and it is there
This should help appreciate it.
