I have no idea what is going on...

Hi guys! I would love to build an emulator focused on consoles that I grew up with (SNES, PS1, PS2, GameBoy etc) but I have absolutely no clue where to start. Would you guys have any suggestions on where I should look for some guides, be able to share any tips you have picked up whilst building your own, or just anything that might be helpful for someone who has completely no knowledge when it comes to these types of things?

You can start here to read on what's an emulator and how it works. You're on the RetroPie forums, so it also gives an overview of what RetroPie is and what you need to get started.
The Docs also have a section on what Emulators are included in RetroPie, grouped by the systems that are emulated (i.e. SNES, NES, etc.).
There are other projects that offer a frontend for emulators (LaunchBox, AttractMode, OpenEmu) that run on Windows/macOS and offer a similar experience. -
@Ryan78134 Just so you know..if you buy a Raspberry Pi 3 you can play dozens of systems/handhelds/arcade boards/computers..but ps2 is out of its reach. PS1 works fine and N64 is hit or miss.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
