Waveshare Game-HAT with RetroPie 4.4 on RPi 3A+ - working
-
Hi all,
I spent the last couple of evenings getting Waveshare's Game-HAT working on a Raspberry Pi 3A+. I foolishly assumed that when the page at https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/Game_HAT mentioned '3B' that their pre-built image would also support the 3A - I was wrong.
So, for the convenience of others, here's a spin of their Game-HAT-retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3-190402.7z which works immediately on the 3A+ - just unzip and write to a card of 16GB or larger.
I made this by first writing their image to the card, then replacing the kernel in /boot with one from Raspbian which boots OK, booting it up, installing kernel headers to match the new 4.16.xx kernel and finally building the joystick / buttons driver. It all works! :)

@gdhgdh Thanks so much for your contribution. You saved me from becoming crazy to make work this Waveshare product with my Rpi 3A+.
Just downloaded a few days ago the image, burned it and all worked fine.
Yesterday, I was cleaning the Waveshare folder on my hard disk (that was full of useless tryings, images, drivers etc.). Accidentally, I've deleted also your image and now, the link is no more avalaible.
This discussion in very old, but please, if you can hear me, coul you share the image again?
Thanks in advance!
p.s. Sorry for my english...
