@njscorpio My theme has a very extensive collection library. Check it out:

@chicuelo Thanks! I'm pretty sure I have downloaded your theme already (I saw it referenced many times as a favorite theme), but I think it is one of the ones I tried that the individual system pages are just black with the blue text and game image (no theme applied). Is it because I have it set to Video? I've noticed this with maybe 1/3rd of the themes I've tried.

@njscorpio Wich systems give you this trouble? maybe there is a missing folder and we can create it.
The theme supports video, but you should set it as AUTO, if the video is detected it would play, if not it will display an image.

@chicuelo The game folders I had tried were Neo Geo and Atari Lynx, ones that it seems like your theme supports. Like I said, this seems to have happen with about a third of the themes I've tried, so maybe I have something wrong on my end. I'll have to look further into it when I get home, though I'm not sure what to check.

@njscorpio you may be using an older version of Emulationstation, one that does not support theme variables.

@njscorpio What about the folder naming? "neogeo" and "atarilynx" are the correct folder directory. maybe you have a different name in your setup

@mitu I'll double check when I get home, but I believe I am up to date, as I recently updated for Skyscraper to appear (unless that was just updating Retropie, and not emulationstation).

I'm almost positive I have the folders correct, as it triggers themed folders in many other themes. I must not have emulationstation updated, as mitu suggested. My whole setup is new, so I didn't realize some of what I had loaded up wasn't the most recent versions.

@njscorpio You can see the Emulationstation version by pressing Start in the main carousel (or in a gamelist view). If you've installed using a 4.4 base image, then your ES should support theme variables.
How did you install the theme ?

@mitu I installed it (and the others) from the theme downloading option in the main menu after hitting start. What should appear different in that menu so I know I'm in 4.4 vs a prior version?

@mitu For what it's worth, from what I recall, my menu looks different that this version: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/themes giving me options to make it a kiosk, and a video on/off toggle.

@njscorpio The menu has the version at the bottom - just report what version you're on.
