I am aware that a Plex plugin for Kodi exists, but I was wandering if someone thought of a Plex client port for Retropie.

@saccublenda this would interest me too. I'm not interested in running a server, just the player to access my existing server.

Not sure if this is possible. Ive little interest in Kodi, but I know I could go through Kodi to access Plex, would rather cut out the Kodi step.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Plex is technically a fork of Kodi (aka: XBMC)

Oh, well you might want to try RasPlex:
              https://www.rasplex.com/

              What is RasPlex?
More technically stated, RasPlex was a complete port of Plex Home Theater for Raspberry Pi. Since October 2015, when Plex Inc abandoned PHT, the Rasplex Team continued to build on its success by moving the code base to later versions of Kodi and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

I have absolutely no need for this but I would set it up if I could launch Plex from my R2-D2 so he was running almost everything.

RasPlex is a JeOS build around Plex, pretty much like LibreELEC is built around Kodi. It is an operating system, that is to be installed on the micro sd INSTEAD of RetroPie. What I am talking about in the OP is a Plex client port for Retropie, just like the Kodi port that is currently available for RetroPie.

Sorry, didn't make it clear but I was thinking like a Dual Boot:

If you don't want to Dual Boot, maybe the Kodi addon would be best:
