      Hi

In a former life I used to play a Neo-Geo down at the local arcade. It had Ninja Combat (which is regarded as being awful but I liked it) and a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up. I'm trying to find this game but I can't remember what it was called.

It was a 1-2 player game where you controlled a small aircraft (it may have looked like Jetfire/the Macross jets). You colleced small coloured gems (red, blue etc) to get power ups.

Can anyone please help me remember this game?

      Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
      ES-DE on a GMKtec K6 (Windows 11, 32GB RAM)

Thanks. It's not quite as I remembered it but I think that's the one.

@George-Spiggott I have a nostalgic spot in my heart for ninja combat for the same reason as you. Recently replayed it and you are right it isn't a very good game. No reason to pick up the weapons because the throwing stars are much more effective.

Yes, and the extra characters that give no benefit as well. It's a bit like Ghosts 'n Goblins / Ghouls n' Ghosts which also has a not powered up power ups thing going on. It's a real pain to pick up the weapons and so easy to lose them and they do absolutely nothing. It took me ages to find Ninja Combat because when I used to play it in the arcade it was called Ninja Giaden (along with a couple of other games from that period).

This is definitely it. Also happens to be my absolute favorite Neo-Geo game. =)
