Would Mario ever steal a car?
-
You all know Mario and his taller brother Luigi? But I would like to know... what happens between 1981 and 1983?
1981 Marios (aka. Jumpman) first steps on rails was on Donkey Kong. At this time Nintendo was short on money and so Marios (Jumpman) money was lacking, too. With an unknown future and one brother to take care of .... what to do?
New releases weren't in future and the console crash was near. We write the year 1982 and there was "A man, a car and a mission...." so why not stealing cars?
Watch the scene at 0:25 ;)

@cyperghost This video doesn't play in the USA :(

@KN4THX Oh... I can't believe this. You see filter bubbels are everywhere :D
It's the pilot of the 80s series "Knight Rider" - a friend of mine told me that it's available as stream so I started to watch the series and I rofled as I saw the two guys...
The be honest but I stopped watching the series after the third episode. It's a flatliner...Anyway "Knight Rider" is a series that was may-be-good in the early 80s. I remebered the series as a kind of kids-action and I enjoyed to watch it on TV from time to time. One of the guys in the neigbourhood also good a black TransAm with a red-bar lightning but his name wasn't David!
But what's today? A "speaking" car, a "self" driving car and all the prejudices of humankind :D - really spooky :)

@Parabolaralus Oh man I nearly forget that movie... Everything I said about Knight Rider is a nothing against this one! Dennis Hopper (RIP) was more convincingly in "The Silence of the Lambs"
But nice to remeber this scene ;)
-
@cyperghost Dennis Hopper wasn't in "Silence of the Lambs", that was Anthony Hopkins... (he would have made a WAY better King Koopa though)
I did see the Knight Rider pilot in the 80s, that guy sure looks like Mario! :) -
@GeekOB Hum... Thanks for correction

The title of this thread reminded me of this satirical tv spot. "You wouldn't steal …"
-
@Clyde Yes this was the intention, too .... "You wouldn't steal ...."
Introduces in the mid 90s. Now the consequences today is DRM and a lot of people who believe that "buying" a mediastream is owning it
tssssBut the video is nice ;)

Until they learn it the hard way, like when Amazon deleted books from Kindle readers or even whole accounts on shady grounds. The most recent hit in the face of every well-behaved DRM user was the closing of Microsoft's ebook store which will soon make all of its customer's libraries disappear.
I know why I'm avoiding DRM at all costs and prefer DRM-free software, music and ebooks. I "own"(*) only what I can save locally and use without restriction.
(* I am aware that I only aquired user licences in most cases, of course.)
