In case anyone else had the same issue, I had trouble getting the arcade marquees to show up. Discovered that by changing the gameslist view style to "video" they will work.

@nadcraker Not really, this is only my first contribution to any project, I wouldn't dare to be in charge. The commits are just the 3 new backgrounds (and logo and xml) and the addition in the "read-me" file. If anyone wants to take the responsability of this theme (Supermagicom seems pretty inactive), they are welcome to include my contribution.

Also, if anyone else wants to create some more backgrounds, I found the background image and the console images on Viking's site, and he allows anyone to use them, I could post the links.

PS: I really like the theme because it makes you feel like you have the original console/computer and throws you back in time. Also, since my kids use my retropie, they get to learn the technological evolution.

            Hi There,
I discovered this awesome theme few days ago, I decided to fork it and make some changes to the original since it was not updated anymore.

I also saw you PR on GitHub and I have integrated your changes in my fork.

I want to update/maintain this theme. I already made some changes (removed the selector color on each console theme for a more cleaner view, also made the font a little bit bigger and re-organized few things)

Also, I have added support for wheel/thumbnail. Since RetroPie do not support the "thumbnail" node from the gamelist, I'm using the marquee node has the "thumbnail", except for arcade.

I have removed the PNG logos and replaced them with SVG version too.

you can check it here : https://github.com/supersquared/es-theme-nostalgic

It's a work in progress right now

@Supersquared looking good! One thing this theme is missing is a "ports" section. I ended up borrowing the ports logo svg from the carbon theme and using the dos background in the gameslist view. But I'd be curious to see what you come up with too. :)

                  • X68000
                  • Steam
                  • Kodi
                  • Saturn
                  • PS2
                  • PCFX
                  • Atari 800
                  • Atari Jaguar
                  • Odyssey 2
                  • Macintosh
                  • Amiga CD32

                  More to come....

The fork is available here : https://github.com/supersquared/es-theme-nostalgic
I have renamed the theme as "nostalgic-neo" so you can always keep the original one

@Supersquared one thing I noticed is that some of the system logos from the original nostalgia theme are for some reason in black and white only, while others are in color. Not sure what the original creators reasoning was for this. I see that you replaced the Genesis logo with a full color logo. Might I suggest updating the Sega cd logo to the black and gold style that the carbon theme uses? There are a few others too that seem like they would be better in color as well.

@Supersquared is there a way to include box art? Like to the left of the TV, similar to what you did with the Marquee. Or does ES not support doing that?

As far as I know it's currently not supported in ES :(

PS: I have changed the sega cd logo

@Supersquared I decided to switch over to try out your enhancements but I'm having a few issues. For some reason the arcade.svg is not transparent in the middle of the A,R, and D (they are filled in black, and also the arcade cabinet's screen). Also my marquees no longer show up properly at the top of the arcade cabinet when im browsing games in the arcade section, only the default .png shows up now.
