Epic Noir - Dark Mode Theme

Loving the new artwork!
-
@chicuelo Can you please add OpenBOR?
-
@cyperghost give me some time, I will se how many systems more I can add. Meanwhile you can add manually to avoid empty artwork!
-
@chicuelo Congrats ... your theme was named on a ETA Prime video as best theme ever ;) See Timestamp: 15:10

Installed this awesome theme today. Have to say thank you for your work.
Just my thoughts on the indicators. Its a great idea. For me it would have been easier if there were files named 1 to 16 (like 1.png 2.png etc) and you have to rename them according to your order.
-
@cyperghost Yes, I have seen the video a couple of days ago!
-
@AnalogHero Thanks! There was a folder with only 19 png files according with the dots, also the actual indicators folder to display something when you install, I will ask @nil06 to add it again so it´s easier to configure

@chicuelo
Hey man, long time no speak! Maybe you remember me from when I helped out with the original theme :)Hope you are good, i've been busy with other things in life but just spotted this thread and wanted to congratulate you and @nil06 on a really incredible looking theme.
I am still using the original which you unfortunately had to take down - but on my next OS/RetroPie Script update, I might move over to this new one as I am really liking the darker colours and artwork.
One question - I noticed the ZX Spectrum poster art is the same as PC Engine/TG-16 (Castlevania) - will ZX Spectrum eventually get it's own artwork?
Thanks!
-
@movisman Hi mate! yes! nice to see you again on the forum!
I have recently uploaded my old theme again, in case you want to update it. It has some graphic enhancements.By now yes, zxspectrum has the same artwork but you could rename a poster from another system to have a variation (maybe Atari 5200, Commodore 16, Apple2 or Sg-1000 that have same games this system does)
-
Fantastic! Didn't realise you had re-released your original theme. Good to hear :) I will update it. I may leave my Picade arcade machine on the original theme, but possibly switch to dark noir on my Ubuntu instance which is plugged into the TV.
No worries about the Spectrum, indeed I can use another image for the time being. What about reworking another Dizzy image? I see this on DeviantArt but it's not really 'dark' enough, and is a different artwork style:
https://www.deviantart.com/craigyule/art/DIZZY-The-Ultimate-Cartoon-Adventure-670812046Also, for Sega/Mega-CD what about an Eternal Champions character? There are quite a few drawings on DeviantArt of Xavier, Midknight, etc that have a similar art style to the other posters.
Cheers!
-
@movisman I searched about dizzy but I couldn´t find any great image so I decided to use castlevania.
I would look forward to eternal champions art, maybe we coudl get a variation for the 32x and mega cd art -
Yeah I had a look for Dizzy also and the above was the best I could find. Was just trying to think of one you could use so there is no duplicate with PCE/TG16. If I find anything i'll let you know! :)
-
Target: Renegade possibly...? The Spectrum version was very good.
https://www.deviantart.com/candra/art/Ladies-of-the-Night-520375410Possibly a bit risque...but it fits in with the art style! :)
-
@movisman I thik thats more hentai like, scince the style is great, I think we should show some action, or epic scenery. maybe that game but another pic
-
Yeah agreed :) will let you know if I find anything! The original boxart would be good (the flying kick), if it was drawn in the right art style.
-
Loving the theme...However on the game list screen at the very bottom there is the options like start select options etc which are placed behind the other metadata on the screen eg rating players.
how do I remove them?

Hi @chicuelo
Thank you for your great work, I love your theme. Very classy with beautiful artworks, it's perfect.
I just wanted to ask your agreement on a proposal. I am using multiple system : Retropie of course, but also Batocera, Recalbox, and a customized Windows install based on the works by @f-caruso. I have started to work on an "extended" version supporting advanced features from those versions of EmulationStation. I do not submit my changes to your repository because I think it will break the compatibility with the "most basic" versions of the frontend. So I would like to create a fork of your theme for those systems supporting advanced features. The enhancements I have already made are :
- Changed the system menu (dark theme and icons added)
- Added a "color" selector to choose the color of the "Game available" label and the color of the selector in the system menu
- Added an options to change the controller icons style (standard, xbox, snes, dualshock or arcade)
- Support of multiple languages (at the time being english and french but anyone can send me files with the translations to some other languages)
What I am still working on :
- Support of a grid view (Work in progress - now the grid view make the emulation station from @f-caruso , batocera and probably recalbox crash because it is not fully implemented)
- Support of Batocera, f.Caruso windows versions of Emulation station, Recalbox.I will only publish it if you are ok with that. So please, let me know.
And thank you again for your great job and the updates. -
@nono6493 Hey, it sounds very interesting! but I don´t know if all of this changes are based on the os, the theme or both.
I really like the option to change buttons depending your controller, but how do you manage that? manually or through menu?
I know the theme is also available on batocera.
Please mail me and we cant talk better.
Thanks!
