Problems with PowerBlock on/off
-
Hi!
I need to take a look into it. I guess you are using RetroPie 4.6, right? Which Raspberry Pi model are you using? -
@mikealves said in Problems with PowerBlock on/off:
sudo bash powerblockswitchoff.sh
Yes. I am using 4.6.1
The switch turns on, but once Retropie and EmulationStation starts the switch won't turn it off.

Btw, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling today with the same results. I am hoping to use a latching swtich to power on and off my project, so I hope to get an answer soon. Are there logs that I can share?

@petrockblog RiPi 3 B+

I am preparing a complete RetroPie image for the Raspberry Pi 4 with the most recent RetroPie version and activated PowerBlock driver. I am currently uploading it, but that will take some more time. As soon as that is done I will post the link! In this way we can rule out that there is any software issue.

@petrockblog Thank you. Will the Rasperry Pi 4 image work with my rPi 3?
-
Ah, I see. No, for the RPi 3 you can download this image - RetroPie 4.6 with activated PowerBlock driver: https://www.petrockblock.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/retropie-4.6-rpi2_rpi3-powerblock.img_.gz

I think it might be the PowerBlock itself. I tried your image and it didn’t work. Then I remebered that I had another PowerBlock. I tried that one and it did work with your image. The older PowerBlock works with my previous image too.

Hi! Can you contact me via email, please? We can arrange a replacement then!

@petrockblog That's nice that you offer, but it was %100 my fault. I was in my classroom and accientally hooked up a 12V monitor power supply to my Retropie (long story) instead of the 5v power supply. If fried the Pi and I should have realized that the PowerBlock would have been fried too. Perhaps I did, but put it in a drawer ans forgot about it and then assumed it worked. Your product is great and the support too.
