I’m sure a good portion of this forum has either read Ready Player One or seen the movie. Earnest Cline has announced his follow up book titled Ready Player Two set to be published November 27th. I don’t know how any of you else feel But, I’m pretty F-ing stoked!!

    Currently Playing: Tetris (Gameboy)

Haven't read the book, but seen the film. Ranks in my top 10 and my son's (he is 15) top 5. Trying to spot all the different references to the 80's arcade game genre, and other 80's stuff is something that changes everytime, cause you always spot something different.
My son keeps saying he wishes someone could come up with something like that in reality. Mind you it could be coming, combine the VR technology, with something like "The Braid" from Warehouse13 (another favourite), where they are completely immersed in a D&D type game, that gives feedback, such as smells, and 'feelings'. Then you are halfway there to the COMPLETE interactive escapism.

The book and the movie are quite different; still enjoyed both.
Let's hope Two is not just published to upsell on the back of the success of the movie.

@Impman66 the book goes into detail more about the OASIS and some of the VR stuff. The best part during one of the gates, Wade has to play and recite his way as Mathew Broderick in War Games (one of my favorite movies also). Now that’s the kind of VR experience I’d be interested in.

@UDb23 I really hope Cline starts us off right after the first book and continues the story there. Maybe a back story to Art3mis? Idk.

This is indeed good news! I didn't even know he was writing a follow-up. But to be honest, I'm sceptical. Half of the wonder of Ready Player One was how he described the world and The Oasis. But I guess it could go anywhere.

Either way: There's only two books I've read several times; H2G2 and Ready Player One. So yes, I am definitely looking forward to this. :)
