3DO lr-opera and chd files
-
I've only tested it on a few games that I had in bin cue format but if you add .chd .CHD to the 3do emulator lr-opera in es_systems.cfg the games load up just fine maybe a bit slower of a load but it could just be in my head.
I only added chd but I believe all caps as well would be the correct way to add extensionsDidn't try to use m3u's didn't find anything online about the old 4do supporting it so I didn't try.

CHD support is a compile time option. Not all platforms enable it. Sometimes because the device can't compile the required libraries or because it is too slow to manage it. The CHD format is compressed and for slower platforms it can be a bit slower to load.
Opera doesn't have m3u support at the moment because it doesn't currently emulate the CDROM's eject behavior and the rest needed to properly emulate switching of disks. So loading the other image is exactly the same as m3u would be. It could be added but functionally isn't any different.

Was just pointing out if someone wanted to they could enable CHD support and the games that I tested seem to play just as well as they did prior. And if given the opportunity for utilizing a compressed format I will.
Wasn't trying to besmirch the developers of the emulator I'm very thankful for thier hard work in bringing 3Do gameplay to my retropie

So I finally converted almost all of my 3do library into CHD format and shaved about 20 gig off my USB stick and so far it's about 99% of the games work perfectly they may be a little bit slower around the load but I haven't timed them and as I said it could just be in my head but they all seem to play smoother but again that could just be in my head.
the only problem that I encountered was that for some reason quite a few of the iso's the cue file was incorrect it should have been.
TRACK 01 MODE 1/2048
INDEX 01 00:00:00And if you try and create a CHD file with the cue file not in that format you the 3do will boot up as if there isn't a CD in the drive.
On a good note the 3do boot sequence is different with the CD and with different CDs so it's fairly easy to spot if a converted ROM will work without waiting for it to finish booting up .
But for many of my iso files it was not. As soon as I changed the mode they worked. I probably should have figured that out sooner but I didn'tIt'll be a little bit of difficulty in using sky scraper to scrape the ROMs. I'm still trying to sort out why Skyscraper isent scraping the chd files but that's minor.
And again I'm not sure how much support you'll get if you manually change the accepted file types but my experience was that it worked and it saved me a considerable amount of space on my USB stick on

@gorgar19 I wasn't accusing you of besmirching the developers (ie myself). I was just explaining things. If CHD is working then that means it's enabled at compile time and whoever is responsible for setting up es_systems.cfg should probably update the file to include chd.

Never got skyscraper to scrape the CHD files ended up scraping the cue files and then find replace the .cue with .CHD in the gamelist .
I'm sure thiers was a setting in the ini file that would have worked but I quit looking and went with this method took a few seconds out of my day to edit the gamelist

@gorgar19 You can use an other app: Skraper. There is an option for search method: CRC, file name etc. Maybe if you change it to "file name only" scrapping chd files will be successful.

Think I tried that in the end I just scraped the old cue files and then just edited the gamelist a simple find and replace .cue to .chd after scraping and moved onto the next retropie fun
