RetroPie-Extra Repository
-
I'll add a note for pi3 users then.
-
@zerojay Maybe the note should be something generic, like: "If you get flickering sprites, try changing the video mode in runcommand". I'm saying that because I don't know if my resolution would work for everyone.
-
That's the idea.
-
Howdy @zerojay
This no longer seems to work. None of the additional scripts are showing up on the retropie menu. Is this due to some sort of upstream change? -
@shakz Did you try updating the script? See the documentation https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/#updating
-
I'm starting work on updating for Stretch. This may take some time.
-
I'm back to RetroPie and am slowly starting to check which games and ports are no longer functional to try to fix them under Buster.
I've also added an installation script for the latest version of OpenBOR that installs the latest official version as an emulator instead of a port, allowing you to launch games directly from emulationstation.
-
@zerojay welcome back!
-
I'm dumb, ignore this.
-
@zerojay I actually saw your post being changed while reading it. 😆
-
Added lr-fceumm-mod to support playing the crazy new Super Mario Bros 1/3 Russian hack. Yep, that's right, an emulator just for one game, but it's worth it.
-
Thank you @zerojay and welcome back!!
-
Fixed Texmaster2009 port downloading data from dead address.
Added shiromino port, another Tetris The Grand Master style game. -
Added Super Mario 64 PC Port for Pi 4 this morning and it's running incredibly well.
https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/blob/master/scriptmodules/ports/sm64ex.sh
-
Various bugfixes for various scripts. Added a pico8 system script that automatically creates a new system in Emulationstation for your games.
-
Added a few more ports: OpenJazz and lr-freej2me (mobile Java games).
-
Instead of bombarding this topic with every little change, I decided to wait a little bit. Here's everything that's been done on RetroPie-Extra since the last update 10 days ago:
- rott: Removed old Rise of the Triad source port.
- rott: Added new Rise of the Triad source port with added joystick support, supports shareware and full version.
- texmaster2009: Update Texmaster2009 port to properly protect user configs and files from potentially being lost/replaced if reinstalled.
- heboris: Update Heboris port to properly protect user configs and files from potentially being lost/replaced if reinstalled.
- heboris: Reported Heboris bug upstream causing W key to pause the game even if not mapped to the pause button.
- wizznic: Update Wizznic port to just install from Raspberry Pi OS packages instead of building from source.
- openjazz: Updated OpenJazz dependencies to get properly looping music.
- bermudasyndrome: Version bump and updated dependencies.
- kweb: Updated to Buster compatible version/dependencies.
- supertuxkart: Downgraded to RetroPie-Extra-unstable as it is far too slow/broken.
- pydance: Updated to use newer git repo with more bugs fixed and added features, updated dependencies.
- sorr: Fix reinstallation of sorr potentially removing your SorR.dat and other config/savegame files.
- devilutionx: Added DevilutionX source port, Diablo game engine.
- devilutionx: Move config dir to a safe place.
- sorr: Update libpng12-dev dependency for Buster to libpng-dev.
- solarus: Removed as it is now in RetroPie proper.
- chocolate-doom: Fixed Freedoom download URL.
- chocolate-doom-system, lr-prboom-system, crispy-doom-system: Added versions of Doom source ports to allow you to add DOOM as a system to RetroPie and directly launch WAD files from EmulationStation.
- wizznic: Properly move Wizznic config directory somewhere safe.
- xash3d-fwgs: Added xash3d-fwgs source port, Half-Life engine.
- lr-bsnes: Added support for Super Game Boy as a system in RetroPie. Only worthwhile on a Pi 4.
xboxdrv repository - the one RetroPie uses currently:
- xboxdrv: Added authentication support for newer Xbox One controllers that were released during the Xbox One S era, should allow more Xbox One controllers to work with RetroPie.
Have fun.

@zerojay Do you have any hints on configuring Heboris? I can only get it to run in a tiny corner in the top left of the screen and with partial sound.
When I go into the ingame menus and change sound from MIDI to MP3 as you advise, and hit A to save and exit, it doesn't save - if I then go back into the menu it's on MIDI again.
There's nothing on the port's GitHub page that's any help with either of these things, nor anything useful in HEBORIS.INI.
(Also, Hurrican boots but doesn't display. I can hear the music playing but I just get a black screen.)
-
@zerojay Is there a trick to getting Zelda Navi's Quest to run? It starts and doesn't return any errors, but the "Press a button to configure" stays put on the screen. After about 10 seconds the "Vincent Jouillat Presents" screen adds itself to lower left corner and locks the system up entirely.
Edit : Nevermind, I didn't realize it was waiting for me to hit Enter on a keyboard. :P

RoTT port with Joypad support works Great! It even plays the x14 Level Mods someone found on an 0ld CD ISO...
I have Zero issues using Joypad controls, however I still need a Keyboard to call the Main Menu. So a keyboard is always needed to Start play. Any way around this?
I recall a similar scenario a while ago for zdoom where it involved changing a few files before compile... Need to do the same here?
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
