[ES Theme] VectorPie (16:9)
-
Oh yeah, I second Ecto's request for PC98, by the way. That'll be my motivation to finally try it out on RetroPie, lol.
-
@ecto No problem, glad to do it! I'll see if I can't get that other category going soon.
-
Very nice theme! I just tried it out and it works fine on my Pi 4 after setting ES's VRAM limit to 160 MB. I haven't checked all systems, but the Arcade system's game description field font color is 000000, which means it's black text on black background. It should be FFFFFF. As for new systems, the only other system/custom collection I personally would be interested in seeing would be Super Game Boy. Keep up the good work!
-
@G30FF Yup, thanks for finding that. Should be fixed now.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't Super Game Boy just an adapter? They're still just Game Boy games, right? I'm not sure it would make sense for there to be a different category for that.
-
Thanks for the fix!
That's true, the Super Game Boy is an adapter, which unlocks some features in some games (that don't work on a Pi 4 without overclocking so BSNES runs at close to full speed). I only suggest it as a custom collection that might be fun to have, along the lines of say the NES Classic Mini or SNES Classic Mini. Not nearly as important as actual new systems.
Keep up the good work!
-
@G30FF Thank you! That's true, some might like it. I may go ahead and add it to the stuff I'm going to do for the theme. Again, thanks for the feedback.
-
Best Theme for me!! Very nice. Just 2 lil probs:
Fix Launching images (when they would fit
it would be really cool)and my question: above the description, i habe empty space where you have the logos of the game.
How to scrape and add it?
Thanks
-
@rsaurer Thanks for the kind words! I believe the launch images are brought up and displayed by the system and are a product of the image itself, the aspect ratio/resolution of your system, and the aspect ratio/resolution of your display. The themes should have no effect on them. I would suggest asking the community for help on getting the launching splash screens to look good.
As for the logo above the game description, they're referred to as "marquees". I've only briefly used a couple of scrapers, as I already had all the image assets for my games, but I assume scraping "marquees" would be an option for whatever scraper you're using. Again you might try asking the community about this. Once you have the marquees scraped they should show up in the theme automatically.

@ecto I'm actually not having any luck finding a decent quality picture of a pc98. If anyone comes across one, let me know!
-
@Zachariel Will this do?
-
@SeraphisCain That's not bad, I think I can work with that. Thanks for the find! I'll get that category going.
-
I have added PC-98 and Super Game Boy, as always please let me know if you notice any problems!
-
@Zachariel One small problem with PC-98: The PC-98 logo isn't scaling properly. When it's not the currently selected system, the logo is the size it would normally be when selected. When it IS the currently selected system, the logo is huge and cuts off.
-
@SeraphisCain Odd... I think I know what's going on. I've attempted to correct it, let me know if it's better.
-
@Zachariel Unfortunately no, that doesn't seem to have fixed it.
-
@SeraphisCain Hmm, I'll try something else and test it on my desktop EmulationStation. I'll update if I get it working.
-
@Zachariel PC-98 should look right now.
-
@Zachariel Just checked it out, looks great now. Thanks!

Workaround for LaunchingImages to work:
The LaunchingImages Script looks for a
<fontPath> in the vectorpie.xml
Section (something, detailed, something)
then in a <textlistFor Example i got it to work:
vectorpie.xml:
<view name=„detailed, video“>
<textlist name=„gamelist“>
Add there:
<fontPath>somefont.ttf</fontPath>
</textlist>
</view>greets
-
@rsaurer Hmm, alright. That shouldn't be a problem to implement, though I'm not sure why it wouldn't just use the default available. I've added it in to force the default that I used when I designed it. Hope it works now!
