      Hello all!
      I'm having fun getting into bullet hell shooters mainly a few Cave ones like DoDonPachi and Espgaluda!

      Ive just learned what the name DoDonPachi means but in the levels in seeing some flickering wasp icons that i can't figure out what they do!?

      They seem to give some points but not enough to warrant their special appearance.

      Does anyone know what they do?

      Cheers!

        Did you Google it?

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DoDonPachi#Gameplay

        Bee: There are 13 golden bees scattered throughout the stage, which are exposed by firing the head of lasers over the area. The value of each collected bee increases throughout each stage, provided the player does not lose a life, beginning with 100, then 200, 400, 800, 1,000, 2 000, 4 000, 8,000, 10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 80,000, and finally 100,000. When the player loses a life, the next collected bee drops back to 100 points.

          I actually did but didn't find any at first glance. Probably didn't expect Wiki to have decent gameplay how-to's. :)

            @redmarsbluemoon the scoring system is one of the reasons why DoDonPachi is my favourite SHMUP since decades now.
            It is not only the hidden Bees, it is also the mastering of chaining and not using bombs until you get score-multipliers.
            I.e. you can finish stage 1 with a few points...or hundred of thousands, depending on how good you have played ;D

              @sirhenrythe5th

              Ha yes Ive just been reading up and watched some 'longplay' style videos it's crazy how good some people are ! :) I just watched this Espgaluda one and the guy had added text banners throughout the video warning about not killing the enemy ships too early and he kept waiting for them to spew more bullets to make higher kill bonus! Nuts! :D

              I'll be happy the day I get to Level 4 at all!

              SO which of the DoDonPachi's is your favorite? I have noticed there are a few different ones and I have got the Dai-Ou-Jou as well which Iv'e just played a little. Seems harder.

              P.S I hear Espgaluda II and Dondonpachi Daifukkatsu are coming to the Switch I'm going to have to get that one for my sons switch just to get some money to Cave, and also to play of course.

                @redmarsbluemoon to be honest: DoDonPachi (1) is still my favourite.
                They are all great, but the first one (or second one, if you count "DoDonPachi" as the follower of "DonPachi") is the one i spent the most time :D
