@Addison Forget how complex the cabinet was. Too hard to play on a standard joystick setup.

This looks terrific for that vintage.

It looked like it would be hard to manage flying and aiming the shots together. Then I fired it up in MAME2003 and gave it a shot. The flying seems to be completely controlled by the game (at least in the first segment I played) and it plays more like an on-rails shooter. The default control settings made it a bit oversensitive to use the analog stick to aim but I think that could be tweaked.

Am I correct in that the only buttons are a simple 'fire' button? I tried all the buttons on my gamepad and the only thing I got was just simple laser fire. At first I thought the pedals on the cabinet would do something but I think they were just footrests now that I look closer. This game might be fun to try with a mouse.

Very nice cabinet to play some space sim like wing commander , frontier elite and many others.

My English isn't at a good level.

@YFZdude You're correct. It does play pretty well on 2003+ with the mouse. Just have to turn off joystick centering. It does seem to run on rails. According to the game manual, the buttons all do the same thing and are there for comfort choice.

In fact the genre is called "Railshooter" ;)
It was quite popular in the early 90s, just have a look at the MEGACD-Games.
I had Starblade on my 3DO in 1994, quite impressive for its time indeed!
