Video preview frame
-
Is it possible to have colored borders around the video preview in emulationstation? Example a red frame. I created png files named after every arcade game, vertical frame for every vertical game. Only problem is that frame shows behind the video, is it possible to have the video behind the image frame?
Or is it a simpler way to not have to have a png file for every game?
Hope you understand what I mean. -
Which theme are you using and on what kind of system (Pi/PC/Linux/Windows etc.) ?
-
@mitu Latest Retropie on Raspberry pi 400.
Using Retrorama turbo theme.
I just like to have a frame around the video, because I think it looks a little bit nicer. I have tried and put frame pngs in the scraped image directory, a little larger than the video, and the frame is showing upp, but behind the video. I’m kinda new to themes in Retropie so maybe there is a easier way? I’m more familier with Hyperspin, but I have started to like retropie and the retrorama theme is amazing. -
@fomt Do you have enabled the
omxiv
video player in EmulationStation options ? When using it to play videos, it will always be on-top of every theme element. Try disabling it and restarting EmulationStation. -
@mitu Thanks, it’s set to off. Is it anything in the theme.xml I can change/add to decide if a image should be in front or let the video play behind something, like a layer setting?
-
@fomt I think almost every theme element has a 'z_index' property which controls the stacking.

@mitu Yes thanks, zIndex 31 on the image works.
