    Hi Community,

today I am proud to present my first (partly) DIY cabinet.
This project started a year ago, when I stumbled across RetroPie and installed it in a Pi4 and play around with a cheap controller. After consuming thousands of articles and YouTube videos about DIY cabinets, the idea emerged that I needed something like this to satisfy the inner child.

I went down a very similar route like @Clyde with his DIY build, which I found out recently. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/17268/my-asteroids-themed-diy-upright-cabinet
If I had seen the article earlier, it would have saved me some headaches and bad purchases ... but I think that's part of the experience.

This is how it started ... bought one of the last kits from Arcade4You, who is out of business now.

First try with simple components ...

    Test painting ...

Background painted the screen plexi ...

At first, I bought black, non-lighted buttons but then wanted to upgrade to illuminated buttons ... but realized that 24 mm diameter is not ideal for 28 mm holes. But where's a will, there's a way ...

Not nearly as tidy as @Clyde's cabinet but it works and you want to have something to do in the future.

But now I don't want to keep you in suspense any longer ... This is how it looks today.
May I introduce: Star Wars Cabinet 1.0

Before I forget, all visible surfaces are covered with printed film and the marquee is a plexiglass panel printed from behind.
(There is still one mistake ... let's see who discovers it)

Do you like it, as I do?
    Any questions?
    Let me know.

    Regards
    Matthias

      Looks great !
The under-panel image is up-side down though (is this the mistake ?).

It's very nice ! I hope to be possible to correct the panel, as mitu mention.

It have plenty of room for a small fridge with cold beers :P

My English isn't at a good level.

@windg & @mitu you spotted it. It's the image on the front door.
I was mounting the vinyl with the door on my workbench and did not realize that it was 180 degrees rotated. Bummer!
Moving the hinges to the other side is unfortunately not easy for several reasons, so I have decided to order another printed piece of vinyl and cover it again.
          Waiting to be delivered ...
