      Hey everyone!

I finished my RetroStation project last night and for my first ever build, I'm actually quite impressed :)

The case is a faulty PS2 that I bought on eBay for £5 quid. I then stripped out everything from inside it (and I mean, everything!).

I then fitted some blue LED strip inside (which my camera phone shows as purple for some reason!). I also mounted a new MicroUSB power socket on the back and a new HDMI socket too, so there are just two cables to plug in, one for power and one for hdmi.

The controls are standard arcade controls and I used an I-PAC2 mounted in the upper section and mounted the Raspberry Pi inside the lower section.

So the end result is a very portable MAME arcade machine :)

I've detailed the build, along with loads of photos along the way on my blog. I've also broken it down in to the following sections:

      • Part 1 (making the case)

      • Part 2 (fitting the controls)

      • Part 3 (wiring the controls)

      • Part 4 (all done!)

Any comments, suggestions for improvements, questions, etc, just let me know :)

I must also say a HUGE thank you to everyone that has worked on RetroPie, without your work, doing stuff like this and allowing me to relive my childhood games just wouldn't be possible!

      Thank you :)

Great project! For a moment I was thinking you've modded one of the original SF arcade FightSticks :)

Would it all fit in a PS1? The joystick is quite deep, as are some buttons. You might also need to glue down the CD-ROM flappy lid?

It would be worth checking out though!

Awsome! This is a really good re-purposing of a PS2. Well designed, looks great PingSpike.

                        Thanks everyone!

I tried to make it work with just six buttons in total (plus 1P button) and so far I have never needed to plug a keyboard in. Hopefully I can keep it this way :)
