Best n64 games

What are your favorite n64 games for the pi 3? I love mario cart 64 as it is the fastest game I have played so far. Sad I can't play ocarina as well :(. So? What yours?
-
For me, it's 1080° snowboarding :)
OOT work with PI3 (but I think you have to overclock your pi)
-
ROBOTRON 64!!!!! fast, exciting, just amazing!
-
@Hyell good to know. My pi 2 doesn't even come close so that may be a good excuse for a pi 3 ;) It would be great to continue my mini Zelda collection of 1 - 3 with oot.

I have been playing a lot of Beetle Adventure Racing and Battletanx recently, however I'n not sure how they run on the RPi3. Seems like Beetle Adventure Racing didn't run great on the Pi2 and never tried Battletanx since I have the Cart for both.
Micro Machines for the N64 was always fun too, especially if you had a large group, since you could to the 8 players setup on 4 controllers.

There are few games that were only available on the N64 and not on the other platforms of the day (PC, PSX, Dreamcast etc.). THE one is:
- Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire
That one features the epic Battle of Hoth where you steer a snowspeeder and where you get to down AT-AT's w/ the tow cable! Luckily that level is playable, but the rest not so. This is due to the fact that some N64 games, if I'm not mistaken, use extra chips in the cartrige itself to get better graphics. SW-SotE was also released for PC (Windows 95), but now-a-days most Lucas Arts games of that era don't run in Windows anymore. I don't know why that is, must have something to do w/ the fact that they require DirectX 6.0 and they do not work w/ newer versions of it (weird!). One might have better luck w/ running a Virtual Machine on your computer that runs Win XP or Win 98. That's how I finally got Star Wars Behind The Magic working 17 years after its release.
Another one that was available on the N64 and Windows and has troubles running on a modern PC is:
- Star Wars - Rogue Squadron
One of the best flight games ever made. It's successors (Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike) were released only for the Nintendo Gamecube. And they are still very playable and still look quite good. My nephew enjoys them very much because the ogig. Gamecube mini-CD discs can still be played on a Wii (use your old GC joysicks or buy two!). The versus mode on the GC Rogue Squadron games is super fun!!!
Another great game w/ good grapics for the time is:
- Shadowman
I played this game twice completely to the end (I have the PC version). Graphics aren't at all anymore what we are used to but the non-linearity of the game and it's sheer size is probably unsurpassed to date. The follow up for the PS2 is not as good.
One of the best games on the N64 that's N64 only seems to be:
- GoldenEye 007
Haven't played it since I didn't own a N64 at the time and PC games blew the N64 away in my opinion. But it's the best N64 game they say. It runs too slow on my Pi 1B so I still haven't played it.
I personally never cared much for the Zelda games but they appear to be a must play for Nintendo console owners. Happy play time! :-)

@Cole_48 To run OOT smoothly on PI2: 1. Select mupen64plus standalone emulator (not lr-mupen64plus) and choose the GLideN64 plugin with 720x480 (16:9) 27 Hz progressive resolution, and select 640x480 as the renderer resolution. 2. Overclock. Runs perfect on my PI2, only thing is that the menu screen takes 4-5 seconds to load.
Remember that the standalone mupen64plus might be saving and loading save states from another directory than the ROM directory.
Happy gaming, I just finished the Fire Temple.

@Arcuza The settings are set in the runcommand, the menu accessible by pressing a button when starting a game.

My favorite game is Super Smash Bros
-
My second favorite is OOT then Super Smash Bros, the pi runs it ok, but its still fun

I had a N64 back in the 90ties and I really loved Goldeneye 007, you really should play this masterpiece. Perfect Dark is a great game too. Other favorite n64 of mine are: Mario Kart 64, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie

Growing numb to the number of times DOOM was ported to a new platform, I completely overlooked DOOM64, thinking it was yet another repackage of the PC games. I only discovered it was an original game in the last few years. It boasts a different story, upgraded graphics and an original soundtrack arranged by the guy responsible for the amazing tracks on the PSX. It's a fantastic game and with all the revived interest in DOOM going on right now, I might give a go at beating it here soon.

conker's bad fur day is by far my favorite, but i think even the pi3 is too slow to run it properly, though i'd be happy to be proven wrong. super smash bros and mario kart 64 after that. rainbow road is the best!
oh, and windows 95 games dont run on new PCs because windows dropped support for 16bit programs when they did the 64bit overhaul in windows 7... but apparently you can spin up a virtual machine with vmware or something like it and run them in windows xp.
