Emulationstation resolution in retropie
-
Hi all,
i'm making background image for my theme in 1280 x 720 pixels, in PC it shows ok, but when i teste the theme on raspberry pi, it looks like the resolutions changed and the imaged was strech, what size i should yse to create theme?thanks.

@FlavioBello11 are you using the same screen/monitor in both cases, if not make sure your screen settings for the pi are correct for resolution and not set to stretch.
I have done exactly what you are doing and created a 4:3 frame for my videos and the aspect ratio translated perfectly from computer to pi.

yes, i'm usign same, screen to plug my computer and raspberry, i thought the emulation station runs at 1280 x 720, so i build my backgrounds in this resoltuion, but i stretch in retropie

@FlavioBello11 you may want to check your settings in you boot config file. Here is a link with some good info lvideo mode options

I ran into this too, the TV i was using actually had a resolution of 1366x768 and when I resized from 1080p to that it looked much better.

The size depends in how many quality / filesize you want. Emulationstation will scale the image to fit screen so you can use any resolution you like.
If you want to make a theme for 16:9 screen then do your bacground at a 16:9 resolution, and if you want to make your theme for 4:3 screens then use a 4:3 resolution.
List of common resolutions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_resolutions
I recommend to you 1920x1080 or 1280x720 for 16:9 and 1024x768 or 800x600 for 4:3.
Regards.
