Video Splash: Console Stripe
-
Here's a splashscreen I made late last year, and I figure I should give back since this community has helped me answer a lot of questions. This splashscreen is based off of a design made by user jrdbnsn (original post here). I've taken the idea of that design, recreated it using new images, different consoles, a different font, and animated it to the sound of the Dreamcast console intro. I made this for my nephew when I built a RetroPie for him for Christmas.
You can download all three versions of this splashscreen here. I am currently using the Loading version as part of my RetroPie
3.64.2 build. By the time the Loading version has finished playing, I'm already at the console select screen, and have skipped past the EmulationStation splashscreen (no offense to ES, it's just a little too "bright" for me, and I can't change it).Update 1: I updated the video files with a better, more efficient encode. They should run better now.
Update 2: I also made 4x3 versions, which you can find at the link above, and I changed the download location from Mega to Dropbox (links updated).
Here's some video previews...

I absolutely love this. However, I'm finding there's a lot of stuttering and freezing with all of the versions of the video.

love it! dreamcast is my favorite console however sometimes it is choppy and other times is perfect. probably just the pi's fault.

Requesting Videos with aspect ratio 4:3

@wookiees_uncle I have encountered this issue with nearly all video intros that I have tried. Any one have some idea about how to fix this issue?

Hey guys, I made new encodes of the videos that are much more efficient and lower bitrate (with a near-zero visual quality loss), which is likely the reason for the stuttering and freezing. You can find the new versions at the same link as before (the old encodes are in a folder called "_old").
If there's still issues with stuttering and freezing after using these new encodes, then the issue might be something else.

@cafarellidigital Can you make these for 4:3 aspect ratio? Thanks
-
@Hex I think I can do that, but the width of each stripe will get much smaller, which will lose some of the details in the console images.
-
@cafarellidigital Its a compromise. Will search for a good 4:3 image

@cafarellidigital 4:3 onces are quite amazing.
BTW here is my build featuring your splash screen : http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2851
