Game Boy Custom Palette
-
Lately I've digging around wondering why the game boy palettes are either highly inaccurate, ugly or just black and white. I noticed there was not much explanation about how to add or even change the .pal . Even if you did change it the correct format wasn't explained, so you ended up with random colours. So ill give you a run down on how to modify and change or even make a list of your own palettes for gambatte.

The gambatte .pal location should be located in the
/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/palettes and you should find default.palYou can open it via your text editor or nano w/e you prefer.
http://i.imgur.com/gzyCAF5.pngAs you see the .pal makes a 4 colour pattern from lightest to darkest then repeats 3x. Now, this is something that wasn't explained anywhere and if it was i couldn't find it. The format that this has to be modified is in decimals. So to make things more simple, i used a hex to decimal converter.
Hex = 4D513C
Decimal = 5067068http://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-binary.htm
More Games = More Palettes
Now that you finished up modifying your palette... you realized you don't want all your games to have the same palette. The easiest means of this is just naming your .pal to the game name and should auto load.
here's a few palettes you can play around with
