i removed all my GPIO pins and soldered my wires underneath the board for a nice clean look.
i also connected wires to two of the USB ports so i did not have anything sticking out of the back.
glad that im not alone on removing parts from the board

@petrorie Sorry to stray off the topic, but what powered usb hub would you recommend? I'm having a hard time finding anything I like.

I desolder usb ports and ethernet port to fit it in a nes cart, it sucked! I didn't even take picture because the board is a mess.... But it works...

@thedeathstar I'm going to be really honest with you, I've still haven't checked it out. I've done some research and I've concluded that it is possible to power up the Pi via a powered USB HUB. But I also read that the power supplies of some USB hubs don't work properly used in a setup like this.
It can be easily solved if you use a power supply which gives you more amps; one like this would be good:
So instead of using the original power supply which came with your hub you're going to use the one I posted. It has an output of 5amps. Some may say its overkill but a PS4 controller draws 700mA, so four of these would be 2.8amp and thats without a keyboard, mouse, fan and bluetooth dongle.
This might be the reason why people fail with them. All the peripherals they've connected to the HUB and Pi are drawing to much amps than what the power supply can put out.

I haven't finished the build, but I let it run Mario 64 for an hour with a lipo sitting directly on the SOC and it seemed fine.

For those talking about desoldering USB ports... I feel your pain.

@petrorie Awesome. Can that be the usb A from the port into one of the four usb A's on the pi, or does it have to go into the micro?
Do you have to worry about too much current into the pie with the 5 A, or is that not an issue?

most of the time when im working on my Pi when im not home. i use a powered USB hub. i get the lighting bolt in the corner, but i only have a HID plugin. i have never had a problem with under current

Huh, you'll get the icon if your power supply doesn't supply enough current. Just out of curiosity how much amps does your power supply deliver?

i know that it is under current, but im not going to go behind my TV and unplug the good one i have. just so i can go to work and work on my Pi
and my hub is 1.2 amp

I have a pi that i removed the usb, ethernet, power socket and audio socket from.
I wanted to save the sockets for further use, and to put them on the end of a ribbon cable. removing them is easy enough, although harder than usual. Doing it without destroying the original connector is a lot more complicated.I dont think I will be doing it again.
