@afunnyname dos means disk operating system. Ms-dos is what microsoft used before windows. When you see a command line screen, that is what dos was like. If you have windows on your computer sometimes you have to bring up the dos prompt to do something in command line. That is what dos was. No gui. Windows 3.1x is an operating system running on dos.

@arkive thanks for reminding me about being old... but just think about it, we will be the first generation (in any sizable numbers) to play video games through our golden years.

@exarkuniv and generation z will be the generation in their golden years that just watches past generations play games. Like they do now.

Yeah, that cracks me up. Ironically, it's called "Let's Play" :)

Getting old is not that bad, at least not that bad as it looked when I was a kid. And true, the added bonus of being the part of the videogame pioneer wave, is priceless.

I don't know what they'll be playing 100 or 1000 years from now, but I doubt it'll be any better than stuff from the incredible DOS Decade - 1985 to 1995.

@exarkuniv i only just discovered dune 2, my first cnc was on the saturn, I played that sucker to the end over the christmas holidays when I got it, then we got tiberiun sun on the pc, then RA2, then I stopped, because they turned shite.
I still havent met a person who can beat me in a lan battle on either of them. quite a few have tried, I can normally take two people at once who consider them good and hand them a whoping.

@exarkuniv come on, LAN is where it is with CnC. I played warcraft 2 on battle net, but it didnt lend itself to LAN as well as Tiberiun sun, I used to hate it when someone woudl call the phone at your house and while they heard ringing it would make the game pause......... sometimes crash when on dialup with mates. Lan was a clear winner

oh i wanted to, but none of my friends ever wanted to play CnC
did play duke 3d over dial up a few times, i think Diablo 2 is when i really started to play online
