crt-pi shader users - automatic usage of crt-pi-vertical in vertical games in lr-fbalpha 029739 (formerly lr-fba-next)

@rion what about games that are more horizontal? do these use the regular overlay for those types of games? the games im talking about for example would be ghosts n ghouls, the simpsons, ninja turtles etc. the wider games.
-
@red2blue for horizontal games, you would just make one setup in the systems retroarch.cfg to point to using the horizontal versions. There are less vertical games than horizontal games so its easier to make seperate configs for all those ones and let horizontal games use the default setting in the systems retroarch.cfg. Then if new games get added, if they are horozontal games you dont have to worry about creating new configs for those ones as they will automatically use the default one.
-
@edmaul69 i have 4.3k roms in my fba folder no way im going through all those figuring out which is horizontal lol....
So if i do it thru retroarch, and make the horizontal one default.. the roms with .cfg files will override default setting right?
And Rion's thread with the .cfg files those configs are only for vertical right?? or did he make everygame use vertical?
-
@red2blue they are only configs for vertical games. For say fba, for horizontal games, you would add a configuration to /opt/retropie/configs/fba/retroarch.cfg. Then every single horizontal game will use that config. Now all of the vertical ones have their own config from his download. It will still use settings from the retroarch.cfg but they have their own overlay and shader setting so it overrides the one in the retroarch.cfg.
-
@edmaul69 can you give me the exact line i would use?
-
@red2blue if you look at the configs in the download they should be identical for horizontal games minus the word vertical and a dash. Dont add the word horizontal.
-
@rion i cant really find overlays searching google. do you know if there is a horizontal and vertical curved bezel for 4:3? the curve just looks bad without one
-
@edmaul69 No I'm sorry. These are all made by John Merrit over at Libretro and they are all 16:9.
But what you could do is to edit the original Bezels and format them to 4:3 with some of the side art cut out but still preserving the arcade monitor.
-
@rion i thought about that but i couldnt find the horizontal bezel. I will try to search based on the name you mentioned.
-
@edmaul69 it was Arcade_Generic_4x3.cfg btw
OR you can use this version opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/overlays/arcade-bezel-overlays/Final_Arcade_Generic_4x3.cfg
-
@rion i need to bulk edit all of these files to add my bezels and stuff. How can i bulk edit all of these files?

I think the screen area is the same for almost all of the generic overlays but I'm not sure.
-
@rion yeah problem is , i need to tell them to use my bezel and also point them to my fba config for other config settings.

If you are talking about editing the cfg files that's easy enough using notepad++ for example. But if you are talking about the png files then I don't know.
-
@rion i use notepad++. I know how to replace one line with one line in bulk. But i couldnt figure out how to bulk add lines.
-
you press CTRL+F
press REPLACE tab
type in the line you are searching for
enter what you want replaced
on the right you should see "REPLACE" and "REPLACE ALL"
press replace all. make sure Match Case is checked Wrap Around is checked, Search mode "EXTENDED" is selected,

Can someone reupload those overlays in second post? They aren't available anymore..
