Shifting gear in Outrun?
-
Does anyone play Outrun on mame?
How the heck do I change gear from Lo to Hi?!
(Using keyboard controller / ipac2)

@PingSpike Did a quick test here, I think it's P1 Button 4 in the in game configuration menu. So depend on which button you assign to P1 Botton 4 :)
Edit: Forget to mention - it's mame2003.

I was playing this a the weekend under lr-imame - it was the Triangle button (PlayStation Dualshock) to shift UP, and the Square button to change Down, which isn't exactly the most natural mapping, unfortunately.

@whsiung Spot on mate!
Sure enough, button 4 does indeed engage 'Hi' gear!!
It also turns out that button 3 engages 'Lo' gear too.
So with a quick mod on the game input settings to suit my arcade controls we're all set!
I can now get to stage two of the game, this is AMAZING news, thanks so much :)
@RetroResolution are you able to change the mapping of yours to something more natural?
-
@PingSpike Hi,
I didn't try, but as I'm running the libretro version of Mame it would be pretty straightforward to change the button mapping through the RetroArch GUI.
For a non-libretro core, it'd be slightly more involved, but with a little config file editing it wouldn't be too hard to achieve.
Btw - nice RetroStation project, very impressive!

@PingSpike Fi you haven't seen it - Cannonball is simply awesome. Easy config too.
I dream one day of building my own cabinet - just like an orginal, but without the brake pedal ;)
