What games are you playing this week? 2017-06-05
-
Let's chat about what games we're playing this week.
-
Most likely lots of Amiga. I just got it set up. Some games are being a pain though and I need a mini wireless keyboard with F keys since mine doesn't have them and more games than I remember need them :p
Also need to try and finish Legend of Zelda on snes. I never played it in my younger days and having lots of fun but now I'm on the mountain it's getting a bit confusing.
-
I've not had a ton of time for gaming this past week, but I did make a little progress in Shovel Knight (3DS) and have played some Mario Kart 7 (3DS). With another busy week ahead I'm hoping I'll have some time to get back to Minish Cap (GBA).

@obsidianspider Speaking of Zelda...
I got the Zelda map puzzle
-
I started playing GTA Chinatown Wars on DS and haven't been able to put it down. Never played it before and it's actually not too bad. I like how they implimented use of the stylus into the gameplay.
-
Final Fantasy VI with the Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition hack, which updates all of the dialog to be more obvious (e.g. "pub" signs instead of "cafe"), updates spells to their modern-day names, restores job classes, etc. It's familiar but different; it keeps to the spirit of the official US translation, and it's refreshing to see the dialog not be sugar-coated for kids.

The only cheevo I needed to get the badge for Final Fight Guy (SNES) was to "beat the game with Hagar". I finally got it!
Edit: are you guys having problems to upload images from a mobile too?
-
@meleu I didn't even know you could upload images from a mobile. I always do it on a "real" computer.

I posted my previous list from mobile and the pictures didn't load for a while, but they showed eventually. The problem was the video didn't load at all until I edited it on my pc and put the link back in

Mainly I will be playing FFXIV for my current gen entertainment, while I am waiting on a pug queue, I have been playing Castlevania: SotN again. I am thinking of another play through on Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen (dreading the load times though).
-
I'm playing night trap on sega cd
-
Last night I played the English fan translated version of Dracula X (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood) on the PC Engine CD/TG-CD. I had played it before but never actually completed it. I also tried to play Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (River City Ransom) on the PC Engine CD but I never got it to load up.

Did you lose a bet? Kidding of course. I've always been a huge fan of B-movies and 'Night Trap' gamifies the experience perfectly. I have the director's cut running in DOSBox. How far have you made it through?
Myself, I'm on map eight of 'Famicom Wars' this week. Japanese pocket money went a long way with this game, as I've been steadily kicking butt and taking names, yet I still have seven more maps ahead. If it weren't so addictive, I would probably give it up in favor of something new. That said, I'm also working my way through 'Formula One: Built to Win' as well. The game started off much easier than 'Rad Racer', but has since matched it and is starting to become even more difficult. Supposedly the final races are all but impossible.

Not related to anything gaming, but there's no great place to put this, so…
How do I get my motivation back to work on these handhelds that I've started? I have three started and bought some parts for wermy's MinyPi, but lately I've just not had the desire to work on any of them. All three projects had/have some challenges to them and I'm thinking I just need to pick one and get started again.
With the VMU I need to try to fit it all inside the case and then figure out a battery.
With the Burger King Toy I need to sort out mounting the controls, what I'm doing for audio, and how to get things to live nicely in the case.
With the GBA I need to sort out the headphone jack and volume control that don't quite fit. I also need to figure out the power switch situation and indicator LEDs.

@obsidianspider
The best motivation is passion. Are you passionate about it right now? If not maybe you should take a break from it for a bit and set a future date that you'll pick it up again. Also it might be easier to just focus on finishing one of them (and don't mess with the others).I have enjoyed reading about your builds and I like pictures! lol
-
@backstander I've had a lot going on with work and "life" that I just haven't been in the mood to do some of the problem solving required to make these builds work. Despite what many people seem to think (not you), this stuff isn't Lego that you just slap together. I enjoy the challenges, but you're right, you have to be passionate about it. I think the best way will be to just pick one.
-
@obsidianspider I find that often when I need to refocus on something, I need to take a serious look at why I am doing it. So what I would recommend is think of your favorite game and give it a play through then get back to one of your projects. Remembering why I do something typically gives me the motivation to continue on with what I start. Similar to Homer working at the plant for his daughter.

Battle ship! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!
-
Super Mario 64, actually trying to beat the game legitimately. It was the first video game I ever played, but I never beat it without cheats.
