What games are you playing this week? 2017-07-10
-
Let's chat about what games we're playing this week and other game-related stuff that may not merit its own thread.
-
Played a game of Pinball (NES) in memory of Satoru Iwata, who passed away 2 years ago today. It was the first game he worked on
-
Finally finishing Chrono Trigger :)
-
Having just completed my bartop build, I immediately started playing Gyruss!
The soundtrack and soundeffects in this game are just awesome!
-
After last week playing quite a few games of Shinobi and mostly making it to Mission 2 (after the first boss), this week I've started playing with Rolling Thunder 2 on the arcade, just for fun. I loved Rolling Thunder 1 back in the day, and I had played 2 on the Mega Drive about a decade or so ago, so I thought I'd try it out on the arcade.
Fun game.
I'm not playing anything for the long run these days, mostly having a bit of fun with some arcade games. I'll probably go back to a few more attempts at last week's games as well, if I have the chance. Only with 1 credit, though.

@ecks If that software were able to export the level as a NES ROM, to play on emulators, it would be like a dream becoming true.

But you know good chance it will be an independent program/game instead and also i have a feeling Capcom might end up shutting it down if they have nothing to do with it because look in the past all the cool Mega Man games that were being made and then Capcom days before the games would come out they would pull the copyright on them which then ends up shutting it down.

Im on the seventh stage of Kid Dracula (translated). Stage 1 boss in this game is very WTF, how in the heck that made it past Nintendo's seal of approval is beyond me, but fun game other than that.

@capeman I really love this game! The Game Boy version is funny too, and has cheevos: http://retroachievements.org/Game/2231
By the way, the NES version doesn't have cheevos, but a great cheevos developer show interest in making a set.
-
I still have yet to get into retro achievements, too lazy to read into how to enable it, hahaha.

Wow! Really lazy! :)
The wiki page for this is pretty short: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroAchievements/ -
@meleu WOW you're right, that really is simple. Do you have to have your roms named specifically for it to work? (like do they have to match the no-intro romset naming convention), because i removed all the (U)(!) in my rom names back in the day when i didnt know how to edit gamelists, or is it all by checksum or something like that.
-
@capeman RetroArch calculates the hash when launching the game with cheevos enabled. No worries about file names.

Finally got to playing with the whole bin/cue thing, only to find eboots, and lo and behold, there's Galaga - Destination Earth on psx. I'm a big fan of the classics so had to try it:)
Got to say I'm really impressed, it plays in the classic arcade style (with a 3D twist of course) but goes into full first person flight mode and also a 2d side scroller. If you like Galaga, (really? As if I had to ask...) I'd certainly recommend it, although any sore thumb syndrome you may suffer as a result, I take no responsibility for.
A surprise winner with the younglings as well.
