Video Splash Screen - Handbrake Settings
-
So I understand that the link below gives you a basic idea of what to do to make your own custom splash screen or perform a new encode on a current video to make it work however of course there are a couple dozen presets to choose from which you can also tweak a little bit as well. Then there is making your own preset. Is there anyone out there that can provide what settings (resolution, framerate, quality, encoder preset, bitrate, audio, etc) they have been using in Handbrake that works consistently? I have been banding my head against my monitor for hours not being able to get my custom screen to work properly. I keep getting the same behaviors; either A) screen flickers while audio plays fine or B) video plays only every few seconds while audio is fine until the end of the file.
I did do a search, but didn't find anyone actually sharing settings/presets unless I missed something. Thanks in advance!

Both behaviors might not be related to the encoding, but rather to overscan settings and SDL competing for the video buffer.
An easy way to check is to exit EmulationStation, and then trying to run that same video with OMXPlayer on the commandline:
omxplayer <video name>
If it doesn't flicker, you'll need to look into your overscan settings as it's known to cause problems with OMX Player in some setups. Specifically, disabling overscan in /boot/config.txt .
