My Remastered NES Covers

@darknior At least I know that you won't be doing all of the Japanese game covers over again. I've probably done work on about 500-600 of them. I've got every single translation from romhacking in the collection, which is somewhere around 400 games when you include the FDS games.
You should try out Metroid - Rogue Dawn. I'm not a huge fan of hacks at all, but that is a brand new game that was way better than the original Metroid. It's one of the most amazing fan-made games I've ever seen. All of the graphics are changed and upgraded and there is even a mini-map on the main screen and when you pause the game you get a large map on the screen.
I haven't posted it here yet, but at the other place I've posted a link to my spreadsheet if you wanted to see what games are in there. Including the FDS games there are 1,944 games currently included with plans to include over 2,100 when it's done.
It's why we can exchange some works. I see you working and testing Atari 800, 5200, etc ... many systems i don't know fine ...
If i can take your settings for games etc, it let me more time to work on covers videos etc ...I can set you up with the Atari 5200 configurations when you're ready for them. I didn't mess with the Atari 800 all that much. I only added the games that were added years ago in the original release. I'm not really a fan of computer based systems.
One of the things I'm going to be doing also is testing all of the games on both the Pi Zero and the Pi 3, and use the best emulator for every game in each situation. I can only test Pi Zero right now because I don't have a Pi 3. Most of the games run with quicknes just fine on the Pi Zero, but if they don't I use fceumm next and Nestopia last because there is usually noticable slowdown if that's my only option. I figure with the Pi 3 nearly every game will just use Nestopia.

Thanks @Used2BeRX for Metroid - Rogue Dawn. I forgot to add it to my collection, i fix it ;)
I have many hacks on my HDD i must try before to add the collection. I don't want to add crappy games :(I have near finish all my covers ... so happy :D
And finally update all of them ... some time just a little like the brightness, but all update and with the same size. Some news Covers i can post separately ...
Action 52 (USA) (Rev A) (Unl)
Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula-kun (Japan) [T-En by Vice v1.02] UPDATED
BattleCity (Japan) UPDATED
Cocoron (Japan)
Devil World (Japan) (Rev A)
Dig Dug (Japan)
Dragon Scroll - Yomigaerishi Maryuu (Japan)
-
Dragon Scroll. Nice. That one was a pain in the butt to "fix". I don't have mine to compare it to right now, but I'm fairly confident at this point that yours is going to be better than mine. :)
Overall, I'm not a huge fan of hacks, although I love game translations because they open up an entire new world of games that were never available in the states. It amazes me how many RPGs there were for the NES that we never got a chance to play. I guess the American division figured that one Dragon Warrior series was enough and we didn't need a lot of other games that played very similar.
I should take some time at some point to recommend other good hacks and translations that you might want to add. I know that there's not a lot that would make your cut, but there are some pretty awesome ones. Two that come to mind now are a translation of a Chinese pirate of Final Fantasy 7 that re-tells FFVII using Final Fantasy I as the base game. Another one that I haven't tried yet but looks amazing is a 3 part NES version of Final Fantasy IV (SNES). The game was so big they needed to patch the rom 3 times to tell the whole story. It looks great.
-
@used2berx Cool, thanks, i will try them :)
I already have many TRANSLATION in my list because like you write it is the most important to have new excellent games we never play. Hack are some time cool, it is why i will try them at the end. For the moment i only add hacks that upgrade the game with two players, and other cool options ;) -
@darknior Funny you should mention upgrading the game with two players. I was in the middle of some work and forgot to update the last post. There is a hack of the totally awesome "Super Dodgeball" that makes it a 4 player game instead of just two players. You might want to add that upgrade too. ;)
-
@used2berx Final Fantasy 7 that re-tells FFVII is really excellent, i love it :)
I have already see the hack on romhack but never try it before.
I don't know for "Super Dodgeball" 4 player hack, i love it, my 1rst real 4p game on NES lolNot really fan of the NES Final Fantasy IV hack ... i will not add it to the collection.
-
Bummer to hear you didn't like FFIV. I haven't tried it yet, but it looked pretty sweet.
Not sure how you are about RPGs in your set overall, but I think I might have another good translation suggestion for you if you haven't added it. It's called Lagrange Point. The graphics look great for an NES game and the music is pretty sweet so far. It's got a Sci-Fi theme. I think it might be one of the better RPGs ever released on the system. Shame it was never released in English, but thanks to the Aeon Genesis team we'll be able to play it.

Lagrange Point
Thanks, i try it and it is really a cool RPG :)
https://www.romhacking.net/translations/2294/
To be honest i don't made the NES best of list, it was the work of @Gilou9999 and @waal .
I work on other list like PSX, MSX MSX2, NEC ...
And when i read the list quickly i think is is a good starting point. And now i'm working on Xtra to use it on our PI :)
But yes like some other list i know i will take 1 or 2 weeks on this set to add Hack and Trad in a near future. It is normal if we forgot some good games the first time i think.
If you think to other Hack and Trad, tell it to me :)The new games/hack/trad that i already began to add with Xtra :
Little Samson (USA) Castlevania - Chorus of Mysteries (USA) [Hack by Dr. Mario, Optomon v1.1] Kaizo Mario Bros. 3 (USA) [Hack by HunterW v1.0] Mario Adventure (USA) [Hack by DahrkDaiz v1.0] Mega Man Ultra (USA) [Hack by infidelity v1.0] Metroid mOTHER (USA) [Hack by dACE v1.0] Metroid - Rogue Dawn (USA) [Hack by Grimlock, Optomon, snarfblam v1.21] Ninja Gaiden (USA) [Hack by FredericB 1.2] Ninja Gaiden III Restored - The Ancient Ship of Doom (USA) [Hack by MotZilla v1.0] Rockman 4 - Minus Infinity (Japan) [Hack by Puresahe v1.0] Mega Man CX (USA) [Hack by Himajin Jichiku v1.1] Super Dodge Ball (USA) [Hack by Aka v1.0] (4 Player Edition) Super Mario Bros. 3Mix (USA) [Hack by Southbird 1.0 r2b] Zelda Challenge - Outlands (USA) [Hack by GameMakr24 v1.0] Zelda - The Legend of Link (USA) [Hack by infidelity v1.10.2017] Final Fantasy II (Japan) [T-En by Chaos Rush v1.6] Final Fantasy III (Japan) [T-En by Chaos Rush v1.4] Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (China) [Hack + T-En by Lugia2009 v1.1] Lagrange Point (Japan) [T-En by Aeon Genesis v1.01] Ninja Gaiden (USA) [T-Fr by daniel v1.0 + Hack by FredericB 1.2] Ninja Gaiden II - The Dark Sword of Chaos (USA) [T-Fr by daniel v1.0] Ninja Gaiden III Restored (USA) [T-Fr by TT 1.0 + Hack by MotZilla v1.0] Dreamworld Pogie (Europe) (Proto) (Unl) Mystery World Dizzy (Europe) (Proto) (Unl) Wonderland Dizzy (Europe) (Proto) (Unl)
I already have test many hacks ...
For exemple The Legend of Zelda - Triforce of the Gods (Chine) [T-En by pacnsacdave 1.0] working only on FCE ... i lost some time with it and it is really crappy hack :(
Same with The Legend of Zelda - Awakening of Onox, cool hack but not finished, only one quest, not interesting.
Or also the Mario Kart for NES, it is not a real Mario Kart like on SNES, only a racing game not really interesting !!! -
Exerion (Japan)
Fantasy Zone II - Opa-Opa no Namida (Japan)
Final Fantasy (USA) [T-Fr by Final Translation v1.0]
Final Fantasy II (Japan) [T-Fr by Minh v0.98]
Final Fantasy II (Japan) [T-En by Chaos Rush v1.6]
Final Fantasy III (Japan) [T-Fr by Terminus Traduction v1.0]

Some news covers i made to have a better Cover set :)
I use them to cover my Translated and Hack games, to not use the same cover two times ;)Adventures of Lolo (Japan) -> EggerLand in Japan, maybe the number two because it is different than the other Eggerland - Meikyuu no Fukkatsu (Japan) [T-En by Kapow v0.9]
I completely invent the cover... impossible to understand how is the real one.
Adventures of Lolo 2 (Japan) -> Lolo 1 in Japan
Adventures of Lolo 3 (Japan) -> Lolo 2 in Japan
American Dream (Japan) -> Last REMASTER with a new source
Battle of Olympus, The (Japan)
I make it with this ... hard work :p
Ganbare Goemon! - Karakuri Douchuu (Japan) [T-En by Spinner8 v1.01] -> NEW remaster for the REAL Japan Cover!
-
As always, looking great man.
I tend to use the exact same cover for a translation or hack in my packs as whatever the original game was based off of, myself. The only exceptions to that are if there are high quality fan art or official art made by the author of the hack in some cases.
I'm glad you're liking some of my suggestions for games to add. I'll let you know if I come across more that you should add. I can't remember, do you have both of the D-Pad Hero and Battle Kid games in the set? Those should be added if you don't.
It's kind of hard to make suggestions sometimes. It's all pretty subjective what makes a game worthwhile to add. That's why I'm making the collection I'm making that will have just about everything in it. I figure that way people could make their own decisions on what games are their own favorites. :)
I figure as long as you have great boxart and Xtras to go along with them, sometimes all that extra work is more enjoyable than the games are.
EDIT: I just found a must-have translation here that you've got to add. http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1032/
They call it "Castlevania II English Re-translation (+Map)", but I'm calling it "Castlevania II: Ultimate Re-translation" in my collection.
Check the site they link to on the patch page. It's a more in-depth look at the patch and it gives you the ability to download a patch in many different languages (including French), as well as allows you to select different options for the patch.
The Angry Video Game Nerd would have loved this game if it played like this back in the day. The day to night palette fade instead of the text box was smooth and amazing.

Yes you are real, it is enjoyable to work on Photoshop to make all this extra wirk :)

Woaw i love it, thanks :)

Battle Kid
Yes i have them, very good games :)
I already remaster the covers too ...Battle Kid - Fortress of Peril (USA)
Battle Kid 2 - Mountain of Torment (USA)
And my new Castlevania JAP covers for translations :)
Castlevania (Japan) -> Full remaster with external stuff !!!
Castlevania II - Simon's Quest (Japan) -> Impossible to found the real one, inspired by the FDS cover version.
Castlevania III - Dracula's Curse (Japan) [T-Fr by Generation IX v1.0]
Like ever i create all the LOGO too, they will be available in the FULL FINAL pack.
-
@darknior Impossible to find because it doesn't exist :)
Simon's Quest only was released in Japan on the FDS.
-
perfect work

Hey darknoir
Did you actually try that Final Fantasy IV hack/translation?
I'm taking a look at it now and it doesn't look like much was done with it other than translating the characters names and the battle commands. Is that right?
Bummer if it is... I thought it was a full translation of the game.
I thought you might save me some time trying to patch it if you've already tried it out and could tell me if the story is translated or not.
EDIT: Add Tetris Zero if you don't have it.
You'll thank me later ;)

This hack fixes the poorly made battle sprites for the characters as well as translate the battle commands and character names.
No story, it is why i don't like it too.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1797/
This is a stupid two player hack ... it is an alternative battle game, there is no interest to use it :(

Easy to know if i have it now, make here a CTRL+F on my list and search :p

It is strange ...Yeah... After I said that to you I actually had to look into it a bit more myself since I was figuring out what boxart I was going to use yesterday. Unlike a standard translation it uses the US rom. I guess that's why it's called a "re-translation" and it was in the hacks section instead of the translations section.

Yeah... bummer. I was excited about that one and couldn't figure out why you didn't like it. Then I noticed the no story too.... :(
