Advmame 1.4 and CHD files

I am trying to get a few roms w/ CHD files (ie Blitz & Gauntlet) to work with Advmame on my Pi 3. I have put the CHDs in the "image" folder within the configs menu w/ the zip file in the rom folder. When I try to launch it, it never launches and returns to menu screen. I'm not sure what else to do to get it loading. Any ideas?

Probably the wrong versions of the chds or roms.
But anyhow: i dont think that the chd titles will run fast enough to be playable, they need much power which the Raspberry does not offer.
