Can someone recommend a PC setup that will run RetroPie with PS2/Gamecube. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 which I've taken to the overclocking limit and want to move on to the next level and fit inside a bartop arcade, if possible. Refurbished is fine, used, whatever. I just need reasonable Ps2/Gamecube performance in addition to N64/Dreamcast/PS1/Mame that I currently enjoy on the pi. Any details about low profile cases and video cards would be helpful too. Direct links to products would be most helpful.

You cannot play PS2 and GC games on the Pi. You might find the following page interesting:

I was asking about a PC x86 setup that was as inexpensive and possible but would run PS2 and GC games. I know the PI can't handle the PS2/GC.

I’m in the same boat. Have been looking for a couple weeks now.

Some cheap computer built upon https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+G4400+%40+3.30GHz&id=2634 would probably do. For the price difference, i would recommend something like a https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-7100+%40+3.90GHz&id=2924 though.

So after some long consideration, I’m leaning towards buying a used Alienware Alpha to turn into an emulation box. It’s a reasonable price for what I want(stable N64, plus GameCube, Wii and PS2).

Has anyone else gone down this road?

My only hang up is totally cosmetic...I really hate that Alienware logo on it.

@livefastcyyoung Well, 2.9 Ghz processor is kinda low for emulation, i'm not sure this is sufficient for ps2, don't expect to run anything with the latest mame either.

Anyway, i wouldn't recommend buying dell products without extending the warranty, they are known for using cheap generic component that won't last long.

Seems to me like the Alienware Alpha is totally overpriced too (700$ for an i3@2.9Ghz with a nvidia 860m ? you can build something more powerful with components who will last for 500$ ), and from the reviews i found, it's overheating and making tons of noise.

@barbudreadmon I am finding ones on eBay selling for less than $300. Definitely not buying new.

Also want something that is a small form factor that would be placed under a tv for this purpose only. I really don’t want something that looks like a PC in my living room. Building that for cheap is not easy. I’ve been looking.

If you do have a small form factor suggestion though, I’m all ears!

@livefastcyyoung Ok, 300$ is nice. I hope you won't have too many issues though (300$ for a recent device which is still sold around 700$ is kinda fishy)
