Please, how to config sound to systems in selection screen, for example: when i select snes play a super mario sound...
-
@lokize
That's not possible. As far as I know, the only sounds we can implement in a theme, are a scrolling sound for the text gamelist and one for launching roms. -
@ectoone
I think recallbox does that. Once I saw a pi with a distrurbing music on every theme. -
@chicuelo yeah i know that recalbox has a build in background music player, but i don't think that was he was asking for. If i'm wrong there should be at least one script around that can be installed on retropie.

@ectoone
I understand. You mean when you change through systems or games. I tried once but no succeed with that. All the files where there and with correct paths but it didn't worked -
bgm sound is a good resource i think team of retropie look for that post!

@chicuelo there was a post recently on github and the windows build thread that was about the sound system. I believe the original developer of ES was working on that before he abandoned the project. The launch sound seems to be the only thing that got implemented in a new way (scrolling sound in gamelists is different). Some themes have the code for all options (i believe the snes mini has them for example) but they just won't work. When I was helping someone with a theme a few weeks ago, I couldn't even get the launch sound to work, but maybe that was just a windows build error or something else.

Hi! @chicuelo I love your theme but I have Recalbox on my Raspi... Could you adapt your theme to it?? I think is not difficult for you; I don't know how to do it :(
Thanks! -
@Sheyk90
Sorry I don't use recall box so I don't know either how to adapt the theme. Maybe you can switch to retropie! :) -
Hi Chicuelo,
An amazing theme - just what i was looking for, you have put together a clean and professional looking theme. One question - is it possible to have video previews on the main menu for each system? Similar to how it works the games - box art first and then the video preview?
Thanks, Raj
-
@rajbhalsod No, EmulationStation has no support for videos on system view.
-
@EctoOne thank you for the quick response, very much appreciated :)

Another question - sorry :(
I've been playing around with the RetroPie software and added some new systems to see how they work. When cycling through the systems, there is lag. I've tried increasing the vram under settings but this does not work and after increasing it to around 400, the system crashed! I also found that if I removed the system logos, it ran a lot more smoother. Obviously I would like to keep the system logos as they make the theme look complete. Again, any suggestions as to how I can avoid the lag and keep the system logos, etc.Really sorry for asking questions - i've been searching on the internet for days and tried all sorts of solutions!

It runs smooth in every card I tried. Maybe your sd is almost full? You could try to start from scratch and ensure you get a clean performance

@rajbhalsod The video RAM allocated by the system to the GPU is by default 256Mb on a system with 1Gb ram (PI 3/3B+/3A+), if you increase the VRAM limit in ES it's normal you get a crash since you're over the limit.
You should try to increase the GPU memory first - from the/boot/config.txt
file - and then increase your VRAM in Emulationstation. Don't go overboard with the limit, the VRAM is also used by the emulators and you might get them to crash if you don't reserve enough RAM. -
@mitu apologies for not replying earlier, I’ve just got in from work. Thank you for the explanation, very informative and helpful. Any suggestions as to what I should set the amount to in the config file? Or is that down to how it performs and then I tweak until I find a best fit for it all to run smoothly?
Once again thank you, there are so many solutions online and coming here to the forum has really helped me understand how these things work, no thanks to you and the other members.

@rajbhalsod I would try at first increasing the VRAM to 160 MB at first and restarting Emulationstation to see how it works, without modifying the system allocated VRAM. If that doesn't work, increase the system VRAM to 386 Mb (settting
gpu_mem_1024=386
in/boot/config.txt
) and then increasing the VRAM to 200-220 Mb - but don't do this unless you have a Pi with 1Gb RAM. -
@chicuelo is really a strong themes, will there be more consoles?
-
@brigada
The idea is to achieve the most part of the consoles as possible, but now im very busy to work on this, so in a near future I hope to complete the list -
@chicuelo Thanks, that's very good
