AdvanceMame has been updated to 3.7

It adds "Save", "Load" and "Reset" to the exit-menue.
      Well...i dont like it.
I want my friends beat my highscores and disabled the continues in those games which offer this option.
      Which are quit a lot.
Dont want them to 'cheat' this way.

I love AdvanceMame!, because of its Raspberry Pi optimizations (great performance-boost with i.e. TAITO F3 or CPS3 Games compared to other derivats of MAME for the Pi) and this great Scanlines, but as long as there are no other major updates in future releases, i will stay at v3.6.

      What is your opinion?

        @sirhenrythe5th Could you disable safequit?
        misc_safequit no
I think default is yes which is what pops up the EXIT YES OR NO dialog. With it set to no it just never asks. Exit just exits. Might this allow bypass of the save?

@caver01 i did not install and test AdvanceMame 3.7, so i cannot say if you can disable this option.

It is not further documented on the Homepage, so you have to try.
As far as i unterstand it, these new options appear as soon as you press select and start to exit a game.
The author did not mention any option to disable this feature, so we will see it as soon as this version will be avaiable to install for Retropie 😑

@sirhenrythe5th Well, hold on a sec. Select and Start is not how you invoke exit in AdvanceMAME. You are referring to the retroarch hotkey combo which is not applicable.

Having said that, you can manually map UI CANCEL to the same two simultaneous inputs so it behaves like the hotkey, but that is not default. Also, those of us who use IPAC controllers have a SHIFT function that works similarly to the retroarch hotkey to send ESCAPE, which is the default exit in AdvanceMAME.

Anyway, my setting suggestion above works, and has in versions of AdvanceMAME going way back. It does not directly address the SAVE function, but it does eliminate the popup when you exit. Send ESC and it terminates the emulator. With the setting enabled, it pops up an exit confirmation box/button (default). If the SAVE is part of that dialog, my workaround might save time configuring individual games.

@caver01 yes, i set start and select to exit a game / quit AdvanceMame to make it similar to all the other emulators using retroarch.
In fact i changed "UI Cancel" to do this.

You know what happens when you do that: the classic exit-menue appears: "quit" or "continue".
With 3.7 the new options save, load and reset will appear.
I thought these are hardcoded in AdvanceMame now, but if you really can bypass or shut off this menue completely by editing config-files this would be great!

Will try this as soon as i can get a chance, thanks a lot for your thoughts! 👍😎

@sirhenrythe5th Ok, we are on the same page. Look for that option in the .rc file and set it to no. It is one of the many tweaks I often make when setting up a new RetroPie image.
