New Nespi Plus Case
-
- Does the script save meta data?
- Did they fix the power issues?
I have the original which I modified so am curious if they addressed these issues

@matchaman old school tools (creator of the super kintaro 9000 case) has one coming out in a few weeks. If you are in the market for one be ready because I'm sure they are going to sell out of the initial batch very quickly.
WOW! But I can't find any info online... could you please share a link?

@matchaman
http://retroflag.com/Oops... you meant the Famicom case. Sorry! :)
-
@matchaman I don't think he has an official post or anything but he has mentioned working on one for a while now. Last I heard he said he was shooting for a release date towards the end of this month.

@thedatacereal I'm searching for an answer to this as well. I'd buy another case in a heartbeat if the new script fixed the Metadata issue. Just waiting for someone, anyone, to verify.

I really want one of these but I only have 2 RPi boards ... maybe I should buy a 3rd just for the case. ;)
EDIT: Love ETA PrimeI know I'm waiting for the new Kintaro case, but I already have the Rasptendo which is more than enough for me.

@thedatacereal I have found this as a comment on a Youtube video about the Nespi.
"Question: Was the power wires upgraded to help prevent low voltage warning.
Answer: It has updated, however, didn't fixed
By Retroflag Tech Ltd. SELLER on April 11, 2018"This question should be on the Amazon website, but i can't seem to find it. Don't blame me if it actually got fixed. Just reporting.
Edit: Just found it. Source : https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/TxEZFY5OPS4O8Q/

According to the video, there is no issue with power/undervoltage using a Canakit PSU.
Maybe they are using heavier gauge wire?
-
Another question I have about this case is whether the shutdown is actually a true power off. Doing a safe shutdown is obviously important, but does it lead to power getting cut, or is the Pi in 'sleep' mode?
-
Was hoping for an Ethernet port in the back corner. Otherwise looks nice, but I already have two of the original model NesPi case. Don't need a shutdown script as I know to shut down safely.

It can be done: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/17322/moving-ethernet-to-back-of-nespi-case

@thedatacereal I couldn't find an answer anywhere so I asked the seller. They replied with "what's Metadata"? So I bit the bullet and got one because I had to know and no, Metadata is still not saved. Can't answer the low power question as I have not yet hit that issue.
-
@vaca2097 Yea their customer support isnt very good. I bought the original nespi case, had voltage issues and sent in a complaint and asked what they could do for me. Their response was "how can I help you?". Literally just that...

The only thing keeping me from buying one of these is "RETROFLAG FOR ALL OF US" printed across the front... I know it's petty, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to finished detail on a product/build.
If it just said ...
"NESPi +
Entertainment System"
I'd own 5 of these by now. -
@capeman I havent done it myself but apparently the lettering comes off cleanly with a magic eraser.
-
@vaca2097 Wow that's just bad.

I just removed mine with this method. It felt like real life photoshop! After some rubbing, the logo is gone but the plastic is untouched, no scratches!
I also cleared the buttons and logo off my black "NES case", removed the red stripe and now it looks really sleek :)

Seems not!
According to this thread here: Nespi case+ Reset works power doesntBut I hope they separated the switches so we need no cut trace anymore ;)
